Talk:Draper Utah Temple

Image removal reasoning edit

Since it has come up in edit comments, here is my reasoning behind removing File:Draper Temple.jpg. It is very similar to File:Draper_Utah_Temple_night_view.jpg, in that it's a night view with identical lighting and distance from the subject.

However, File:Draper Temple.jpg is blurry, underexposed, the camera moved during exposure, and it has blown highlights. As a result, the picture loses many details: The Angel Moroni looks like a golden blob and the trees and fence are almost indiscernible. Even the hill on the right side of the picture is difficult to differentiate from a car passing in the foreground. Details of the facade and windows are completely lost in the blur.

File:Draper_Utah_Temple_night_view.jpg is far from a featured picture, but at least it's in focus. The problems with that picture are fewer and less severe.

Frankly, I think File:Draper Temple.jpg wouldn't survive a WP:IFD nomination, based on its low quality, and that better pictures of the same building already exist on Wikipedia.

Staplegunther, if you live near the temple, maybe you could get a better picture. A good daytime picture of the completed temple would be particularly appreciated. – jaksmata 19:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
