Official site keeps getting changed from http://www.dirtyprettythingsband.com to http://www.dirtyprettythings.co.uk The .co.uk is a fan site, not the official site. It is barely notable and seems to contain nothing of not compared to official site and I am tempted to remove it entirely. What's the consensus? Super Ted 02:08, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

According to a post at the official libertines website @ http://www.thelibertines.org.uk/index.php?/new_news/more/dirty_pretty_things_announce_another_london_gig/ The official site is www.dirtyprettythingsband.com However both appear to redirect to the same page. I'd prefer to revert the article back to that link as it would appear that that is the bands intended new address based on that post. However, both redirect to the same page so I'm not too concerned at the moment and would only be ensuring that the link stays active for the forseeable future. And on a separate note, someone again changed the official site link to .co.uk. I think this is actually vandalism by someone trying to promote that fan site. I agree that it's worth dropping it altogether as a link because it has no useful information that isn't on the official site. OneVeryBadMan 14:18, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

A.K.A.

An unregistered user added "(a.k.a. Dirtys)" after the band's name. I have never heard this used, so I'm going to revert it. All of the fans on their forum and in every other source I've seen abbreviate the name as "DPT," never "Dirtys." OneVeryBadMan 23:21, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I've removed three links that have been added recently, for the following reasons:

• One was a duplicate link to the official website, under its '.co.uk' registration rather than its '.com' one.
• One was to the Australian DPT website; if you think their worth an article, write one and we'll create a 'Dirty Pretty Things' disambigaution page
• The third was to the recrod label's sight; I'd be inclined to keep this if people wern't intent on adding link after link, but its relevance here is at best tenuous Robdurbar 13:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Reggae

Can someone please fill me in as to how reggae music has influence the libertines?obidikeeze

There is an obvious reggae influence on the Libertines music. It is plain to hear in some of the tracks and in the general punk-influenced style. Pete Doherty was so taken with it that Babyshambles released a straight reggae track called "Pentonville." --OneVeryBadMan

"Bang Bang, You're Dead" is not the official single

The version of the song that's floating about the net right now is just a demo, ripped from a flash movie on the band's website, and has not been released as an official single. Page Move

I moved this page from Dirty Pretty Things (band), and moved the film content formerly here to Dirty Pretty Things (film). The change seemed necessary to me because the band is likely to produce more searches than the film, which is several years old. I replaced all the links to the film with links to the new page, and I left a redirect on the old Dirty Pretty Things (band) page. I also replaced all of the links to the old (band) page with direct links here. --OneVeryBadMan

Sorry, I think that's wrong. DPT should be a disambiguation page, with this at DPT (band). The film is at least as well known, with more pages linking to it than the band. Robdurbar 09:41, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Discussion

First of all, I apologize for amateurishly not following the proper procedure for moving the page. I'll make sure to do it right next time. However, I think that a separate disambiguation page is unnecessary. When there is only one other possible meaning, the top of page disambiguation link is cleaner and works just as well. The question is which one should be the main page. There are a few more links to the film, but it is a stagnant subject which isn't likely to generate substantial new interest or more links. The band is new, it is certainly going to be subject to more interest, more research, and more modification. That's why I think it should stay here. If you add a new disambiguation page, everyone is inconvenienced by an extra link.OneVeryBadMan 18:44, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

But can we speculate on the success of the band? If their debut album is w***, then they may dissaper whilst the film remains the same. I must admit to being quite a fan of the disambiguation page concept, however. Robdurbar 00:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
