1999 arrest edit

Should this be added?

According to The Guardian Grant was arrested on May 28 1999 but was subsequently released and eliminated from the Minstead inquiry because of a police paperwork blunder. [1] BlueWaves9 (talk) 12:47, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

yes that wording sounds okay. - SimonLyall (talk) 17:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Delroy Grant edit

Time for the article to be renamed with a redirect from Operation Minstead? it would make sense, allowing for a more encyclopaedic approach. Also, it's worth noting that Grant is/was a Jehovah's Witness, though I concede that consensus hasn't been reached on that yet. A couple of things for a better editor than I to consider anyway. 86.26.240.102 (talk) 22:00, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

other Delroy Grant DNA blunder (file error) edit

According to the documentary "The real manhunter" and the words of lead investigator Colin Sutton (at 1h 20min, 1st ep ), in 1999 he commited a burglary in Bromley. Bromley borough officer found 2 Delroy Grants she thought are likely to be guilty: one had an adress in Leicester (the one in the article), the other one in Dulwich. She assumed the Dulwich (Southeast London) one was the one. He was the wrong one. The problem is that the wrong DG had had his DNA taken when arrested for other offences and was already in the database. So when the DNA from the Nightstalker offences was compared to (Dulwich's) Delroy Grant's DNA they compared it to the wrong one (Dulwich) and there was no match. From that point onwards the DG (nightstalker) is on the Minstead files as eliminated by DNA.

In 2001 sbd called the police and said that DG of Leicester could be the nightstalker. First (and last) thing they did is went to the database where it said eliminated by DNA. Setenzatsu.2 (talk) 13:28, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Number of offences edit

Acc to the documentary series "the real manhunter" (1:24:10, ep1) he was connected to 204 burglaries, of which 30-40 included sexual assaults, of which 5 include rapes. Setenzatsu.2 (talk) 13:35, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

physical characteristics edit

acc to the documentary "the real manhunter" (1:05:10, ep1) and (1:15:58 ep1) he was incredibly fit, muscular and flexible for a man 50+ years old. Setenzatsu.2 (talk) 13:43, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

dates of charged offences edit

Those dates were originally given in dd/mm/yy format - and I have no reason to believe they were incorrect.

In November 2018 user 2600:1702:AB0:D890:DD05:7C0:1106:18C3 changed some dates to mm/dd/yyyy format and others to dd/mm/yyyy. The order of the day and month components was only changed where the original date was unmistakably in dd/mm/yy (where the dd number was too big to be a month) e.g. 28/7/99 to 7/28/1999. Where the original date was potentially ambiguous the day and month components were not swapped - just the year changed to 4 digits - e.g. 12/10/92 to 12/10/1992.

Assuming that the dates were correct before this change, the edit led to a mixture of DMY and MDY order (with the unambiguous dates all being in MDY - leading to the obvious inference that all the dates were in MDY). It is unclear whether that change was a subtle act of vandalism or a good faith edit made by someone unfamiliar with DMY date order.

On 23 September 2021, user Gothaparduskerialldrapolatkh attempted to change all these dates to DMY format - and did so by swapping the day and month components in all cases (clearly assuming they were all in MDY).

I have now edited the page again to change all the dates back to what they were originally (before the 2018 changes), but retaining the 4-digit years.
