The Title edit
I think that this disambiguation page should be the default page for "Deira" to avoid confusion, as I would believe that more people would search for the area in Dubai than the area in England. Thanks! Jesus geek (talk) 13:55, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

– I don't believe that there is a primary topic here. Pageview shows the ancient kingdom and the modern area of Dubai are roughly equal. There are at least 6-8 links currently that are meant to link to the Dubai. That can't happen anymore if the dab is at the base name. There are over 500 links to Deira that will have to be changed to its new title, but I believe the majority are from Nav templates, so it should be relatively easy to retarget those. - Oppose. The Deira article is about a major historic kingdom and well sourced. The Dubai article is a stub based on sales puffs. There are 664 links to the kingdom and 244 to the Dubai district, so it would be a major task to change them all unless there is a bot that takes care of all problems. - Support Among page views and common usage there is clearly no primary topic. Our page on the Dubai one is unquestionably shoddy, but looking at news coverage, books, etc shows that is unquestionably a significant district of a major world city in need of some real improvement. Were this a situation where the kingdom was more common in terms of PT1 but perhaps not enough to be the clear primary I would say the historical significance would be the deciding factor, but in this case there is so clearly not a primary by PT1 that the outcome most beneficial to readers appears to be the proposed one. I don't really buy "there are too many links to change" arguments as a reason against a move -- we've tackled bigger ones, and they usually get resolved pretty quickly. --Yaksar (let's chat) 17:33, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
