Boob Controversy edit

Why is there no specific stuff in the article about the breast controversy? I recall at the time that when the game was released for Playstation, plenty of reviewers thought the game was fantastic -- but that it was extremely lame for them to make it so that all women in the game had breasts seemingly made out of jello. They bounced up and down like there was no tomorrow. Many thought it was a really sexist and especially wrong for children to see when they play the game. If anyone else reads this know what I am talking about, feel free to comment on this issue. Mastgrr 01:39, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because it's already mentioned in the article about the series. --elias.hc 07:44, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can't see any mention of controversy. Also, can anyone substantiate the claim that there was controversy. It seems the OP is expressing his/her own opinion about breasts in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frognsausage (talkcontribs) 12:46, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Triva Section edit

The problem that I have with this section is that it states that if the first game failed, that "Tecmo may not exist today". I sincerely doubt it, and thus I find this to be POV. -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.245.236.128 (talkcontribs)

Looking at the reference (gained by unlocking through the resepctive game), that's what the possibility entelled. As per the nature of the company, and they're potential income, it is somewhat unlikely. I've made a minor re-write. -ZeroTalk 13:36, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Character Roster edit

I don't think my mention of this game having more male characters then female was POV. Let's face it, the series IS more focused on the female characters today (which has been made clear by the creation of DOA: XBV), and I just wanted to mention it for those who thought that it had been the case since the first game which again, has more male character characters (with Ayane, the game only has four females; the rest are male). -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.245.236.128 (talkcontribs)

No it wasn't biased. It was unnnecessary, and was considered indescriminate information. No article regarding this series makes note of the gender ratio, and its certainly not required here. -ZeroTalk 13:36, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
It ran the thin line of interesting trivia to the flat-out trivial, and was excised as a result. And to say differently on the girl front is odd, considering the bounce ratio here could be nuttier than anywhere else. Papacha 01:56, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Story edit

"Prologe [sic] Lifted from the game manual" How is this not a copyvio? ˉˉanetode╞┬╡ 12:52, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Its within policy. Reading over the discussion on the Wikipedia:Copyright issues, it doesn't infringe upon the company's ability to sell, market and distribute the game. The context was also sourced to its original origin, so there's no false claim of distribution. -ZeroTalk 12:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
It is, nonetheless, lazy. There's no commentary whatsoever, it doesn't really illustrate any specific point, it's just awkward prose lifted wholesale. Also, where is the pertinent discussion at Wikipedia:Copyright issues? I found nothing that deals with this case. Going by WP:FAIR#Text, the reproduction of this text doesn't really fall under the aegis of fair use. ˉˉanetode╞┬╡ 13:10, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Well I think you've a point there. The first game was very ambigous concerning the story; it wasn't paticularly concerning any sequels. It might be wise to remove it and let the reader go off the character artcles instead. I'll remove it for now and see if the Saturn release has something more elaborate to explain what precisely happened. -ZeroTalk 13:29, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the reconsideration. I think that the story section could briefly summarize establishment of the DOA tournament by DOATEC, the motivations and backgrounds of specific characters are already covered in their respective articles. ˉˉanetode╞┬╡ 13:39, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dead or Alive Original edit

Once upon a time, a loong time ago, my friend rented a game for his playstation, Dead or Alive. It was a hard game to master, but one mystery was that one of the characters explodes into what seems like super shiny flower petals as a victory pose. I looked up our Wikipedia articles on this game, but I forgot what she looks like. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? --JDitto 04:40, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deleted this section because it was a personal opinion with no reference what so ever.--24.139.144.232 (talk) 07:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Backgrounds in Playstation 1 version? edit

The article alleges (reference?) that the Saturn couldn't cope with 3D backgrounds but doesn't mention if the Playstation version had the same problem. Makes it sound either 1) Like the article is only about the Saturn version 2) that the person writing just wanted to slag off the Saturn. Frognsausage (talk) 12:43, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

This site suggests they were also 2D backgrounds on the Playstation version: http://www.absolute-playstation.com/api_review/rdoa.htm Frognsausage (talk) 12:43, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
