David Iakobachvili (-shvili)

Dear sir or madam,

Two factual mistakes in the article dedicated to David Iakobachvili drew our attention.

We would appreciate it if you fixed them. First of all, the correct way to spell the surname is IakobaCHvili (the French way)-- this is how it appears in every official document. Secondly, David Iakobachvili is not a citizen of Russian Federation. He is a citizen of Sweden, which can also can be confirmed with official documents.

(talk page stalker)@Tanyakos: I have added a source confirming Iakobachvili's Swedish citizenship. The name Iakobashvili is consistent with the source there, and transliterations of Cryllic (in this instance, Якобашвили, and specifically the letter "ш") can have several variations. Ymblanter may be able to advise more on the spelling. As you can see, I have warned CLCStudent about edit-warring above, so I think he will now understand and appreciate your complaint. @Ritchie333: the spelling can be anything (Iakobashvili, Iakobachvili, Iacobachvili, Yakobashvili and a lot of other vatiations). How it is written in the passport is irrelevant (for example my passport says Iaroslav but the article about me correctly says Yaroslav because this is how I am most commonly known). We just go with the majority of reliable English sources. If by any chance there are no reliable English sources available we use WP:RUS, which would make it Yakobashvili.--Ymblanter (talk) 09:37, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Yakobashvili sounds more "correct" to my ears, but the source given says "Iakobashvili", although it's a Georgian blog so it's probably not particularly reliable other than just confirming basic biographic details. Ritchie333 ^{(talk) (cont)} 09:40, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

If I start searching, I see Reuters and Forbes and FT and even TASS using Yakobashvili, and we are left with only Bloomberg using Iakobachvili. I would say we need to rename the article.--Ymblanter (talk) 10:17, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Dear colleagues, Once again, new changes in the article dedicated to David Iakobachvili draw our attention. As we have already mentioned, the way of translating his surname as “Iakobashvili” instead of “Iakobachvili" is wrong, according to every legal and ID document. We would appreciate it if you fixed them one more time and considered applying sanctions to the everyone who is involved in the intentional and repetitive malicious actions against Wikipedia and David Iacobachvili’s article in particular. Our policy is not that we follow the passport data or wishes of the subject of the article. We follow the most common name of the subject use in English language sources. At this point, this most common name is Yakobashvili. If the majority of the sources switch to Jacobachvili we will also switch to Jacobachvili. Yes, this spelling is also in the article and sources to Bloomberg. But the majority of sources clearly go with Yakobashvili.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:40, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Dear colleagues, Once again, we thank you for providing the information about the media sources where the mistake appeared. We have contacted all of them and came to an agreement that every new reference to David Iakobachvili will be made properly, using the name stated in the ID. We kindly ask to remove 2 mistakes we found in the article. Firstly, when you refer to Bloomberg, you use "Iakobashvili", even though in the original Bloomberg article it is spelled "Ikobachvili". Secondly, we would appreciate it if you changed the sentence "sometimes spelled Iakobashvili" to "Iakobachvili in the identification documents" or any equal alternative you prefer.
