Birthday Mystery

edit

Barby's birthday is difficult to pin down. Most sources (such as IMDb) only list the birth year (1948) and age as 63. BUT david-barby.net/7.html only lists the day ("23rd of April"). BUT 23 April 1948 would made him 64 not 63. I am mystified.  FrostedΔ14  15:57, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

As a member of David's immediate family I can confirm his date of birth is 23 April 1943, he died aged 69. Thanks 86.164.150.206 (talk) 23:39, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • I have taken a bit of time to trace a Birth record for Mr Barby on a free index, I can confirm a record exists for a David J Barby in Rugby in 1943, but the record says June not April as his relative has said? Right, ok having done a search for my dad who I know was born April 1943, it also says June, so that is an error on the transcribers part obviously. I'am happy that 86.164.150.206 is correct and genuine in her claims. Seasider91 (talk) 20:39, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Great, glad you're happy. I have created an account now and I'd thank you not to disrespect me or my family again. Cupcake74 (talk) 21:42, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

That tone is unnecessary. Anyone can edit this page and claim anything they like. Seasider91 was right to check the information. Hakluyt bean (talk) 00:12, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Seasider91, June is probably the month of registration. Hakluyt bean (talk) 00:12, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

June is the Quarter in which the death was registered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.37.88 (talk) 20:05, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Years active

edit

Why are the years active (in the sidebox) given as dating from 1990 when the article clearly states that Barby was already a member of the association of valuers by the age of 21? Considering his birth-date that would obviously be from 1964? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcvanderloo (talkcontribs) 19:21, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps some shallow-minded person thinks that he was a nobody before he appeared on television. He worked for Locke and England for years prior to his television appearances. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.132.222.38 (talk) 21:17, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
In case you haven't noticed, his notability (per WP:GNG) is based on his celebrity as a television personality. This has nothing to do with being shallow-minded, or dates he was involved as an antiques valuers. Removing uncited and incorrect information

edit

I've removed the unsourced statement, "In March 2012, Barby appeared on screen with severe facial injuries which were sustained after he fell over a table whilst filming an episode of Antiques Road Trip."

I don't know where the fall actually took place, but it was at the end of July 2011 in the 29th series of "Bargain Hunt" that David Barby appeared with the injuries stating that he'd tripped on a paving block and hit his head on a bench. Whether it occurred during the filming of "Antiques Road Trip" also seems to be of little importance.

While I could cite the name of the episode, etc., there doesn't appear to be any correlation between the fall and his death, therefore I'd regard it to be a case of WP:NOTEVERYTHING, (most explicitly WP:IINFO). --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:50, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
