The Nightwish 2007 Album edit

I created this article so there would be a better place to collect information about the new album on. Feel free to change the title in May, as it is revealed. - Aki 16:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Album title edit

By the way: since Nightwish long time connection with Andrew Lloyd Webbers the Phantom of the Opera, it could be mentioned that the bands history (love triangle Tuomas (phantom, poet, genius in love), Tarja (christine, made popular by the Phantom), Manager guy (Raoul, slave of fashion)) may have played a part in the album title. In Webbers musical a passion play is even mentioned by the Phantom character.

Genre edit

Now, who have added Progressive Metal to the genre? Please, just leave it be. Symphonic Metal and Power Metal fits good enough. - Mathias 16:09, 5. April 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 14:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think progressive metal is in the this album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.157.75.136 (talk) 22:48, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not a power metal album.. The first three or four Nightwish albums might be power metal, but this one is certanly not power metal! I would place it in the heavy/symphonic metal genre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.224.156.58 (talk) 14:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Track listing edit

I included two more tracks in the track listing, both untitled, the epic part and the second single. These are the ones I know is formally known as tracks (except Eva).- Aki 13:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Eva" meaning edit

Im not sure, that the part considering the song "eva" is correct. The lyrics says "Eva flies away/ Dreams the world far away". I am pretty sure that this means, she dreams about another world/home, and "flies" away into her own dreams and thoughts. Not neccesaraly that she actually run away from her home. Does anyone agree? if so, i will change it. Herlastbreath 17:59, 24. Febuary 2007

Please beware of entering more WP:OR into the article. Rehevkor (talk) 17:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by that? Mathias 19:07, 24 February 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Herlastbreath (talkcontribs)

Fixed the link to the policy there.. basically what you are proposing sounds like your own interpretation of the song and can be considered WP:OR. Rehevkor (talk) 18:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The untitled tracks edit

Does anyone else then I think that it may be OK to create articles for the two else untitled tracks as well? I have quite a lot information about them. I think that at least the second single should have an article, as information of it could be revealed any time (it is released before the actual album). - Aki 18:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The second single does now have its own article. - Aki 18:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lables edit

Does anyone have references to the lables? i erase them till it is sure what the lable will be. - Aki 02:30, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Failed GA nomination edit

I have speedy failed this article, as its content is likely to change substantially once the album is released. Please try again after it has settled down post-release. --3M163//Complete Geek 02:38, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Section Clean up edit

I have removed outdated and repeatitive sections. When the new singer is announced the "new singer" section should be gutted. Lelek 15:53, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Eva-cover.jpg edit

Image:Eva-cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:50, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Credits clean up edit

The credits section states the credits are more shared and then in the next statement it states that Marco has sole credit for some songs. Its more distributed than more shared. Also watch for weasel words "it seems that".

Tarja didnt sing almost exclusivly before century child. Angels Fall First had 'Elven Path'(the LOTR movie quotes), 'The Carpenter', 'Astral Romance', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Witch Drums'(no lyrics) with exclusive Tarja for 58% of the album. Oceanborn had: 'Paroh Sails to Orion', 'Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean', 'Moondance' had no lyrics so Tarja sang exclusivly for 70%. Lelek 17:55, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

"The Islander" edit

Can I please have a source that says Marco Hietala is the composer of "The Islander", as said in the article? - Aki 18:08, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Emppu Vuorinen has been set as the composer of "Whoever Brings the Night" as well. Didn't see that one at first. Still, the article needs certain sources. - Aki 18:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Anette Olzon sings on "The Islander", it is not only Marco Hietala.

Hey, question: If Marco is soley responsible for writing The Islander, than why is Tuomas also credited for it? In the box? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.170.253.127 (talk) 07:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Marco wrote the music but Tuomas wrote the lyrics - that infomation is on DPP booklet herlastbreath 16:23, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of some track's articles edit

I’ve been taking a look at some of the articles of the tracks featured on this album...and I believe some of them should be deleted, because they provide little or irrelevant information about the songs themselves (some of them say only “...” is the “…”th track on Finnish symphonic power metal band Nightwish's Dark Passion Play album). Master Passion Greed, Sahara, Whoever Brings the Night, For the Heart I Once Had, The Islander and Meadows of Heaven are the ones I think should be deleted unless more information is given. 7 Days to the Wolves also doesn’t look an useful article for me. I preferred to propose the discussion here first rather than simply listing the articles for deletion. Victao lopes 00:21, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, as nobody says a word, I proposed the articles for deletion. If anybody wants to improve the articles, do it in five days, or they will be gone. Victao lopes 23:53, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The purpose of section "The Pendulum"? edit

I have trouble understanding the purpose of a whole section dedicated to "The Pendulum". The section has no valuable information whatsoever. "The pendulum is in many ways involved" - being the name of a track and a picture on the cover is not what I think when I say "involved in many ways". I'll delete the section. Nuclear Blast release edit

Nuclear Blast will also release a 2CD digipack with the instrumental versions on the second disc. --Hullu poro 14:33, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Bye Bye Beautiful" art source? edit

I would like the source for the cover artwork used as the "Bye Bye, Beautiful" single cover. Aside from this article, I can't find the image anywhere (including the band's homepage) and would like confirmation that it is the actual image that should be used. Thank you. JSteinseiffer 02:23, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nuclear Blast's website. - Aki (talk) 11:58, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Track listings edit

I've cleaned up the track listings to be more consistent with WP:ALBUM. As it was it was repeating it self 90% and totally pointless. I've included the standard track listing plus the few bonus tracks, the original "Bonus tracks" section was totally irrelevant to this article. I've also removed the whole singles section. Why have the information here when they have their own articles? That and it was a mess and the images would probably not be covered under WP:FAIR. My apologies if I missed anything. Rehevkor (talk) 05:15, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've, again, trimmed down the track listing section, it's entirely unnecessary to go into so much detail and putting it in a box only reduces readability, as well as going against the guidelines set in WP:WikiProject Albums which this very talk page claims to be part of. It essentially listed the exact same track listing five times. If you have any opposition to this please say so instead of just reverting. Rehevkor (talk) 20:33, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Erämaan Viimeinen" is not confirmed to be the next video. edit

I don't know who put this information, but it was not confirmed so far the song for their 3rd video, so saying "Erämaan Viimeinen" is the next video is pure especulation and to be honest very doubtful to happen since it was already released as a CD-Single. Can anyone please delete that information or show me a link where I can read the information? Thanks. ImaginaryVoncroy (talk) 23:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Lyrical themes" section edit

I've tagged many of the dubious comments in the lyrical themes section in an attempt to help bring it up to scratch. As it has been tagged for a month now and much of the OR and unsourced material is still present. As it is it seems border-line unrecoverable without deletion, full rewrite or merger. Rehevkor (talk) 20:12, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps what can be used (has citations and fits into the scope of wikipedia) can be merged into the pages for the individual singles. This page is about the album as a whole, so only the themes of the album as a whole should be discussed here, IMO.97.117.6.30 (talk) 10:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Meanings edit

Just browsing over the article some of the definitions and meanings seem like complete rubbish! I think they should all be deleted unless they can be cited. At the very least i think the bit about Marcelo Cabuli should change in Master Passion Greed, the way it reads now hints that he did want to destroy the band with greed, but this is only the opinion of Tuomas, i think this is misleading ?? anyone agree ??/ (talk) 17:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

I agree, the whole section is a mess, possibly an unrecoverable mess. Deleting it and allowing it to be written from scratch may be the best option. Rehevkor (talk) 17:28, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

ok, i will try and find some of the actual meanings and add them in. (Neostinker (talk) 21:41, 28 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

Still needs a lot of work.. if fact I still believe it's unrecoverable. Is there anyone willing to give the sections a serious rewrite? Please speak and do so now, if there's any hope the the article it needs improving asap or it should be cut entirely. Rehevkor 18:18, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
No one willing to take up this mantle then? The article will be greatly improved by simply removing the offending content, and I will do so if no one has a reasonable objection. Rehevkor 14:46, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alrighty then. No one objected so I blanked the whole section. There may be recoverable information so the original content can be found here. As I said, I feel the whole thing was unrecoverable as it was and a full rewrite with proper prose (not a section for each song, talk about the album as a whole) would be required. Rehevkor 14:49, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reach edit

I added the song reach to the track listing as a bonus track on the collectors edition. It was removed, because it was listed in the bonus tracks as a single bonus track. It is on the collectors edition of Dark Passion Play, so it should be listed on the album's track list. Correct? Or is things different on this article than everywhere else in the wiki? -Violask81976 00:10, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Islander Music Video? edit

In the article it says that the video for The Islander comes out around May 25th, but on the band's page, they've already posted a link to the YouTube music video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.153.132.178 (talkcontribs)

Yes, that is true. Maybe it is the single that is being released on May 25th... -- ReyBrujo (talk) 15:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Plus: in the beginning it mentions the Islander music video having been made; at the bottom it says that the "two" videos had a Budget of 270.000 €. but including said video, its three... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucky Gamling (talkcontribs) 16:03, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

"The album that saved his life" edit

I've watched that quote slowly gain prominence in this article over the past 6 months. If you look at the source, though, you'll notice that he also says "I would of course never have taken my life - I love life too much - but sometimes everything felt exclusively senseless and hopeless." The "album that saved my life" quote may be worthy of note, but it's really done wrong in this article. I don't think it deserves its own paragraph and such prominent placement as the second paragraph, but at the very least, it's got to be qualified in some way. Saying that the album saved his life is just downright wrong. Stick in a "figuratively" or something.

I'm posting here rather than making the change myself because I've seen someone else qualify that statement, only to have it removed, and I'd rather reach a consensus first. Also, I don't really know how to do it. Twilight Realm (talk) 05:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Greek chart edit

This article claims #3, the link cited #5, and the link cited at Nightwish discography (greekcharts.com) gives an empty column for any chart placing for any Nightwish album in Greece. What to trust? 82.141.125.149 (talk) 04:12, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Strange. I just checked the cite, and did not find the #5 chart position for Greece. Is it deleted from the source? 82.141.125.41 (talk) 14:11, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
