Climate of Massachusetts' tornado list edit

Something is wrong with half the article's tornado section: large parts of that section are not wikified. Certain words need to be linked to something in the tornado section. Angela Maureen (talk) 14:27, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Climate type temperature conversion errors edit

In the sentence "The seasonal temperature variance can be as great as 91 °F (33 °C), but is typically about 59 °F (15 °C) to 71 °F (22 °C)." the conversions between F and C are done incorrectly. If you are converting temperatures from C to F the formula is F = C * 1.8 + 32. But if you are converting temperature ranges, the constant of 32 is not included, so the formula is Delta F = Delta C * 1.8. I don't know whether the original temperature ranges are given in F or C, so I don't know how to correct the article. In fact, the code behind this sentence is "The seasonal temperature variance can be as great as 91 °F (33 °C), but is typically about 59 °F (15 °C) to 71 °F (22 °C)." so I think the [convert: needs a number] function cannot be used to convert temperature ranges. Thanks for pointing that out - I couldn't locate the source that provided the seasonal temperature variance (I suspect someone mashed together numbers pulled from the tables down below) so I just removed it entirely. Don't think that much harm is done since the prose still mentions a large seasonal temperature variance (now just without the numbers) and people interested in the values can still check out the tables. I'd presume the original values would be in °F seeing as the article's subject is in the US, but well it doesn't matter now. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 05:21, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Nantucket is oceanic by any definition and Logan is 1 C from Cfa subtropical using the real 0 C 32 F isotherm edit

Nantucket is not Dfb bordering on Cfb, it's easily Cfb bordering on Cfa. Both coldest months (Jan and Feb) are 33 F (1 C). Coastal Boston and Logan airport is only 1.2 C or 2 F from meeting Cfa subtropical even under the stricter, real, isotherm of 32 F 0 C in the coldest month (January). The Jan mean is above 30.
