Sources don't belong in External links. They go here! edit

These sources do not ever belong in External links. I have moved the link farm from there to this talk page where they do belong. Warning: I didn't check them over, so be careful in choosing any references here. Thank you! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 21:36, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Recent changes to article text reek of WP:PROMO edit

Hi, I happened upon this article recently and noticed that a bunch of non-neutral, overly-detailed information had been removed by Divergence5 (talk · contribs). I don't normally have problems with the removal of article bloat. I do notice in the edit history, the restoration of some of this material by Gg9311a (talk · contribs), for example here which is explained by this edit summary: "edited life details, accomplishments, and so forth that has been deleted in the past". Yes, well, sometimes things that were deleted in the past were deleted with reason. I then noticed the unexplained restoration of some of this content by 216.15.30.139 (talk · contribs) here, and then after I'd reverted it for straying significantly from WP:NPOV, much of it was resubmitted (again without explanation) from Gg9311a here.

The problems I had with those edits was that they do not attempt to portray the article subject in a neutral light. For example, in Gg9311a's most recent edit, he reinstates the claim "Scott is also recognized as one of the creators of 'Stretch Music'", which is a disingenuous statement if the source is only reporting that Scott created a style that Scott calls "Stretch Music". The style of "Stretch" would only be notable if it gained steam and became "a thing". Which it may have, but that is not supported by the article or its references. Further, attempts to describe "Stretch" are supported by a blog, which does not meet WP:RS.

Then there is this obvious WP:PROMO violation: "Through the partnership with Adam’s Instruments, Scott’s Siren Trumpet, Sirenette and Reverse Flugelhorn[1][2] [3] are revolutionizing brass instrument design all over the world. As NPR put it "Christian Scott ushers in new era of jazz"." Wikipedia is not a shill for Scott's sponsors, and this must be cut.

I don't have time to go through every piece of re-submitted content unless tasked to do so. In the interim, this is my rationale for again reverting these edits until the anonymous IP editor and/or Gg9311a choose to engage in discussion on this topic. Given the obvious similarity of content and strong POV, I am curious whether or not Gg9311a is the IP editor. This, however, is likely to be a simple oversight, e.g., being enthusiastic and accidentally making edits without logging in. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:36, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think your actions were correct. FWIW, this article has had previous issues with WP:NPOV, promotional tone, etc. (see old version from 2010) including edits by someone claiming to be the subject's mother (example). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:13, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Gyrofrog: Ah, brilliant, thanks for that info. A very helpful snapshot. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

To add to article edit

To add to this article: the origin/meaning of the name "aTunde Adjuah" (which is apparently of West African origin), and when Scott took this name. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 21:31, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also: the pronunciation of "Xian." 173.88.246.138 (talk) 00:44, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
