historical proof

None of the qualified historians (Prof. Elankom, Prof. Menon, to name a couple) have mentioned anything about any Chempil Arayan. Also I am not sure why Chempil Arayan is describes as being a forerunner of the movement against imperialism. The Nairs of Attingal were involved in the first battle against the East India Company. Pazhassi Raja, Kurangoth Nair etc had fought against the Company long before Chempil Arayan (had he ever existed... the historical records are strangely silent about him) got involved.

There are oral, ocular and documentary evidence regarding his existence. The royal sword, athachamayam ritual, ettukettu house and documents related to other immovable property shows the previlages enjoyed by him during the reign of royal state of travancore. Narrow minded people knows about arayan community/tribe only from chemeen film. The sad reality was that caste system was well entrenched till the 1850s in Travancore (and even after that, right up the temple entry proclamation) and how can one expect the Nair community (who formed the royalty and the army) to socialize with Arayans and other communities during such times? There are lots of oral legends about Pulaya rulers (example: Pulayanar kotta) and contributions of the members of other communities (Ezhavas, Nadars, etc) in playing some role in Venad/Travancore history (even as rulers), but there is not even a shred of written evidence for such events in history books. Is there clear written evidence for these contributions? There is ample evidence for the contribution of the Nairs in the defence of the land. Works of eminent historians such as Dewan Peischar Shangunny Menon (who had access to royal documents), Prof. Elankom (who came from one of the most illustrious families in Travancore and thus had access to written documents; also, his family was connected to Dalawa Velu Thampi's so would have had access to family lore) and Prof Sreedhara Menon (who demonstrated time and again that he would not bow to any pressure from political parties to change his history book) do not mention the existence of this character. Without historical evidence, how can one be sure that this is simply not just a tragic case of wishful thinking by people from these communities? Swords can be made and documents can be written by anyone. In the absence of any mention in history books, at least, has the Travancore royal family ever issued a firman about the contributions of this individual? Where is the evidence for his existence and his deeds? There are not many authentic and reliable sources of information on this subject. Unless it is available, there is little point in having an article on this subject. All we can find and some claims and exaggerations by the local media (59.92.119.166 (talk) 20:44, 12 August 2023 (UTC))
