Move to Ekaterinburg Arena edit

The stadium name is officially Ekaterinburg Arena which is also used in all official 2018 FIFA World Cup documents and scorecards as well. Central Stadium isn't the name anymore. So why don't we consider a move to "Ekaterinburg Arena"? Cricket246 (talk) 08:02, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'll start the ball rolling (hehe), and log a WP:RM for you. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:44, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot for the assistance Lugnuts. Much appreciated. Cricket246 (talk) 11:14, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Once temporary, "Ekaterinburg Arena" name is permanent official now so the move would be appropriate. Google translate of the notice. Cian Akril (talk) 15:24, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Central Stadium (Yekaterinburg)Ekaterinburg Arena – Per the above discussion. Cricket246 - please provide some sources to show this is the case. For the record, I'm neutral on this, as I have zero interest in football. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:45, 14 June 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Dekimasuよ! 16:37, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for starting this, Lugnuts. Hereby I attach some reluable sources that officially use the name as "Ekaterinburg Arena" for the stadium : [1] (BBC), [2] (The Stadium Guide), [3] (FIFA), [4] (Mirror), [5] (NDTV), [6] (FIFA announcement), [7] (ESPN), [8] (Telegraph). Each of these sources are reliable and notable enough to suggest that "Ekaterinburg Arena" is the official name of the stadium and that's why the page must be moved to "Ekaterinburg Arena" as the name "Central Stadium" won't be in use anymore. Since nobody opposed I went for the move myself by being WP:BOLD. Cricket246 (talk) 04:39, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment - @Cricket246: I have reverted your moves. This was complete unsuitable for BOLD move, partly because a discussion was ongoing, and partly because there is a discrepancy in spelling. GiantSnowman 12:37, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment - the BBC also refers to this as "Central Stadium, Yekaterinburg". I cannot find any consistency anywhere. GiantSnowman 12:41, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi GiantSnowman. Many thanks for the appropriate measures. Coming to this issue, to be particular FIFA is officially using the name as "Ekaterinburg Arena, Ekaterinburg". So what should be the best option in this case? By the way an important information is that the official page of the city lists the city name as Ekaterinburg so Ekaterinburg seems a more widely and officially used spelling than Yekaterinburg. Now coming to the name, the "Central Stadium" is of course not invalid but the official name of the stadium is "Ekaterinburg Arena" as confirmed by FIFA. I think these points are worth consideration! Cricket246 (talk) 18:04, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. . This is clear-cut case of WP:COMMONNAME versus WP:OFFICIALNAME, and we all know how that turns out. Linhart (talk) 21:46, 24 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. "Ekaterinburg Arena" is a temporary name for the duration of the FIFA World Cup 2018, permanent name will be chosen after the World Cup, "Central Stadium" is still official name and most probably will be retained.
