The 1791 meetinghouse contained within the stone shrine is the largest single room log structure in North America(seats 500). The burial ground contains an unmarked section which is among the largest unmarked burial grounds in the country. The restoration of the original slave gallery which had been used as a barn loft since the 1820's is the oldest documented restoration of a slave gallery in the United States. The removal resulted from an interior remodelling due to the fact that the congregation was an early abolitionist congregation.

Though the revival of 1801 was a pivotal event which altered the course of American religious development, and even though the building is a rare, early and architecturally significant log meetinghouse; it is not listed on the National Register. WHY?
