Boulder v. Fairview edit

Nice try, Boulder :) but you don't get to boast for yourself on Wikipedia. Took out mention of BHS being better than Fairview "in every way." RECON (talk) 00:13, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

CWA section NPOV & cleanup edit

I have been working on the BHS entry for a bit and the biggest problem is the CWA section. I have some suggested edits that could help. I have also added a few refs and tags to help with NPOV.

(some in attendance were as young as 14)

This addition seems to have a biased tone. Also it is already assumed because Boulder High's info box mentions grades 9-12. I suggest removal for better NPOV.

The Becker quote is in the same form that has been accused as being out of context. A summary (and full text) of Becker's statements are already provided which leads me to believe that this quote is unneeded and possibly biased (context).

In particular Becker allegedly informed the students where to easily find marijuana and appeared to make fun of using a condom[citation needed]. Becker allegedly went on to encourage students to experiment with both hetero and homosexual sex and encouraged students to masturbate[citation needed].

Some NPOV cleanup needed (too hard for me). Possibly by reducing use of opinionated words like "encourage".

Mansur Gidfar and Patrick Garrett also appeared on the program Colorado 2031, hosted by local news anchor Ron Zopollo, to discuss the issue with Caplis and Silverman.

I tried to find a ref for this on the 2031 site, but the summaries are too vague. 24.8.147.178 (talk) 02:08, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Pudding edit

What is the story behind the nickname? Deeze (talk) 06:24, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not exactly sure, as it happened before my time as a student at BHS. However, rumors have circulated that there was an incident during his days as a vice principal at the yearly "All Cultures Day". Bruce Campbell showed Chuck Norris how to roundhouse kick. (talk) 02:45, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've heard the name thrown around Boulder High, although i can't say i know where it came from. I'm assuming it originated before i came to the school. i would be curious if anyone did know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.120.1.88 (talk) 20:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have also heard the rumour of the all cultures day incident. The story goes that he over the course of the day consumed the majority of the pudding they had for sale. Eventually, the volunteers selling the pudding began to call him "Doctor Pudding", and the nickname stuck. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.97.202.208 (talk) 15:13, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've heard the nickname recently. it seems as though its making a comeback. i have only heard it this year, but i have heard the rumor of the all cultures day incedent. however i've heard another rumor of a prank phone call a few years ago. has anyone else heard this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.120.1.88 (talk) 03:15, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

didn't he, that one time, with the pudding... —Preceding unsigned comment added by KSI jew bagel (talkcontribs) 03:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think its hilarious that everyone calls him Dr. Pudding now. some people even call him "Doc Pud" for short. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.120.1.88 (talk) 03:40, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've heard more another version of the "All cultures day" incident. The pudding consuming story might still also be true but I heard that there was a smaller food fight with the main weapon being Pudding. Dr.P stopped the fight and earned the name Dr. Pudding. --68.165.198.65 (talk) 01:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Pudding as a nickname for bud jenkins is as much part of the school as anything else on the page. stop trying to take it down —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.25.251.108 (talk) 19:48, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

To put a rest on all the Dr. Pudding rumors... The all cultures day incedent DID occur, but that is not the reason why that is his nickname. a few years ago some students were planning a prank on Bud Jenkins (i forget what the prank was, but i'm pretty sure it fizzled out, or they got cold feet) the code name for Bud was "dr. Pudding" so a few students from the class of 07 started it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.97.202.76 (talk) 17:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Extra Curriculars edit

so are preforming arts, student worker and model UN the only important sections now? i don't think any clubs sections should be taken down —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.25.251.108 (talk) 19:53, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Source edit

Can someone add this to the article? --DrBat 11:44, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why can't you? Wikidudeman (talk) 17:33, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Even though this is old news, I have added another source for related statements. Also, newhounds is biased and is probably not the best source to use. 24.8.147.178 (talk) 02:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism repair edit

A lot of vandalism still remains on this page. I am about to correct the "varsity sports" portion -- someone else will have to check on the intramural and club sports.Paul (talk) 00:58, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV edit

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:17, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Are state championships and national poll rankings encyclopedic? edit

In this edit, John from Idegon claims that state championships should be removed and that "National high school polls are op/ed, not fact". The material in question that has been removed improperly is as follows:

1) "Boulder High earned their second Boys Soccer 5A State Championship in 2016 with a win over Broomfield High School and a perfect 20-0 season." This is supported by this source

2) "The 2016 Panthers finished the season ranked second in the nation by USA Today on its Super 25 Expert Rankings.", whcih was backed by this source from USA Today.

I'm not sure that John from Idegon understands policy here, but I invite any comment that would demonstrate consensus that a state champions or a ranking in a national poll cannot be included in any article, even with a reliable and verifiable source. Alansohn (talk) 18:33, 2 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The state championship can and should be included in the article. But I stand on the national polls being nothing but hoo haa. Unlike college, there is no basis for comparing high school teams from different regions to each other. They are nothing but the poll compiler's opinion and as such are op/ed, not journalistic reporting. At work now will expand later. John from Idegon (talk) 20:28, 2 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I couldn't agree more that "The state championship can and should be included in the article.", but you removed it twice. That double removal of what you acknowledge to be encyclopedic undermines the entire claim, but I'm willing to discuss further.
I wouldn't be interested in your rankings of high school boys soccer teams, or of mine, but the USA Today rankings are from a panel of experts at a reliable and verifiable source, supporting a strong claim of accomplishment at the national level. I'd reconsider if you can point to Wikipedia's "no hoo haa" policy, but the source stands on its own. Alansohn (talk) 21:10, 2 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
