Talk:Bliss Carman

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

Changed the anachronistic reference to "Atlantic Canadian province" to Maritime province, since during Carman's lifetime there was no such thing as Atlantic Canada, as Newfoundland had not yet entered Confederation. The region was then known (as NB, NS & PEI still are) as The Maritimes or the Maritime provinces. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.34.48.169 (talk) 12:49, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Linked bibliography

edit

Most of Carman's books of poetry were linked to live on-line copies at a University library. Last weekend,User:Beetstra cut all of those links, while making other changes to the article, in a series of bold edits he made to it without any discussion here. Policy WP:BRD is that bold edits must be discussed, and if not discussed get reverted; but User:Beetstra is an Administrator, and if you attermpt to revert his changes he will block your account (which he did to me). So: is there a consensus? Would these live links be considered useful? Or "disruptive"? George Dance (talk) 13:52, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

George Dance .. I have quoted the policies and guidelines over and over .. external links in the text/body of the article are discouraged. Wikipedia's goal is not linking to everything available outside. I reverted your edits and removed other superfluous linking (in line with the cited policies and guidelines), and started a thread on your talkpage regarding a specific link of you, and that general way of linking. You reverted me on those edits without giving an explanation - that is the problem. Don't suggest that I did not start a thread on this with you. Don't try to make this personal - there are now several people on your talkpage who all tell you basically the same. Also read my further explanations regarding this, and do assume good faith.
That being said, I've re-inserted the linkfarm in the poem list .. though I am still doubting if it is there appropriate. Lets hear some discussion further. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:12, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
