Real time net worth

edit

Is it possible to automatically change the net worth to whatever it says here http://www.forbes.com/billionaires/list/#version:realtime or can it only be done manually --88.111.129.157 (talk) 20:06, 17 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Cost of Botchkarov Brewery?

edit

@Stephen paul ogden: The article previously stated that Heineken bought Botchkarov for $400m. This is supported by one of the two footnotes. You've changed this to $325m, and I'm sure you have a good reason -- but would you be able to provide a reference for this? Thanks! Alarichall (talk) 13:21, 3 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was the CFO of the Brewery. Stephen paul ogden (talk) 12:55, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Aurora Acquisition Corp

edit

Bjoggi is the Chairman of Aurora Acquisition Corp which is taking a digital homeownership / mortgage lender public via SPAC. The deal has been registered with the SEC. At what point is it appropriate to add this to his list of business ventures? https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1835856/000119312521235147/d154116ds4.htm the size of the deal is larger than that of Play, Rebag, and Zwift as is the market capitalization (~$7B). Background info found here: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/11/softbank-backed-mortgage-lender-better-in-7point7-billion-spac.html

SEC filing (S-4) also contains this blurb, some of which might be of interest to certain people: Thor Björgólfsson has served as the Chairman of our board of directors since our Company’s inception. Mr. Björgólfsson graduated from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a degree in finance. He is Iceland’s first billionaire. Mr. Björgólfsson experienced his first significant liquidity event with Bravo Brewery International Ltd., or Bravo Brewery, in St Petersburg, Russia, selling it to Heineken N.V., or Heineken, in 2002. Over the ensuing years he invested in telecommunications, mostly in Eastern Europe and built up generic drugs company Actavis plc, or Actavis (now Allergan plc, or Allergan). Mr. Björgólfsson continues to be an active investor in the emerging economies of Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America through his London-based private equity firm, Novator. He is chairman of Novator and maintains a shareholding in companies including WOM in Chile, data center Verne Global Ltd., or Verne Global, and pharmaceutical company Xantis Pharma AG, or Xantis Pharma. This is routine business activity for someone with this level of wealth, and seems to be more about getting a mention of better.com in given the focused nature of the OPs contributions. I don't feel this is due weight to mention in this biography. - MrOllie (talk) 18:48, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, in accordance with WP:Paid and Conflict of Interest guidelines, I am declaring that I have a connection to this article subject. Could the following alterations please be made to make the article more accurate? Some information is missing, out of date or inaccurate:

Introduction
Please change “is an Icelandic businessman, entrepreneur, and former chairman of Straumur-Burðarás and chairman of Novator Partners.”

to

“is an Icelandic businessman and entrepreneur, and chairman of the listed companies Straumur-Burðarás, Actavis, and Carnegie. He is also chairman and founder of Novator Partners.”

Please change “Björgólfur has invested in a number of larger companies and smaller startups, including Play, a Polish telecom outfit; Rebag, the luxury handbag marketplace; and Zwift, an online platform for indoor cycling. Other companies invested in by Björgólfur and Novator include Xantis Pharma, Klang, and Lockwood Publishing.”

to

Björgólfur has built and invested in a number of larger companies and smaller startups, including Actavis, a pharma company, WOM, Play mobile telecoms, challenger brands in Chile, Colombia and Poland, and Zwift, an online platform for indoor cycling. At the end of the introduction can we add the following clarifications and updates:

Björgólfur Thor published an autobiography in 2014 about the ordeal titled ‘Billions to Bust and Back.’ Thor appeared on the Forbes rich list again in 2015 with a net worth of $1.3 billion, and in 2021 ranked at number 1444 with a net worth of $2.2 billion.

Business Career

Can this section list Actavis first as follows:

Actavis

In 1999 Thor along with an asset management unit from Deutche Bank invested in a privatisation in Bulgaria.

Can the Novator section be moved to after the “Business after the crisis” section? This should make more sense chronologically. Could the founding year be added into that paragraph, and also the most recent notable deal?:

In 2021 Novator invested $250 million into DNEG, a visual effects company which worked on Inception, Ex Machina and No Time to Die.

Icelandic Financial Crisis

Can you adapt the first sentence for context from

“Two of Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson's companies, Landsbanki and Straumur, went bankrupt following the 2008–11 Icelandic financial crisis and the government of Iceland decided to assume responsibility for the banks.

to

“Two of Björgólfur’s companies, Landsbanki and Straumur, went bankrupt following the 2008–11 Icelandic financial crisis. On October 6th Landsbanki was put into receivership and liquidation, and on March 9th Straumur was nationalised by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Iceland (FME).”

At the end of this section, can you add the following update:

Following the crash, Thor had €650m of personal guarantees. Rather than declare bankruptcy, he instead took two years to negotiate and restructure the debt with his creditors, most notably Deutsche Bank. Potential sources:

Many thanks! Strength Truth and Honor (talk)

Thanks for asking about this, Strength Truth and Honor. Possibly someone will get to this before me, but otherwise I'll be happy to check these claims against your suggeested references and update the article over the Xmas break. Alarichall (talk) 19:05, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well, it took me a while, @Strength Truth and Honor, but I did eventually get round to this. I implemented most of your changes and did some other copy-editing too. I'd welcome factual corrections of any errors or citations where there are gaps. I might be able to fill some in later myself. Alarichall (talk) 18:04, 6 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of references

edit

Hi there, @Sergeyjackston. You've made some recent edits, deleting references from this article. I don't understand why: references are a crucial part of Wikipedia articles. It would have been helpful if you'd explained your edits properly using the edit summary. One of your summaries says 'links are dead' but as far as I can see the material you've deleted includes valid archived links. Could we reinstate these references please? Alarichall (talk) 08:59, 16 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey @[[User:Alarichall|Alarichall] I couldn't find the way to remove only 3 of them, so have deleted accidentally all of them - 3 links were dead for sure with 505 and 504 errors. Thats why I've deleted them. Still whole article is very strong and has a lot of references, so I thought, that couple of dead ones removed is not a bad idea. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sergeyjackston (talkcontribs) 15:23, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
