Move to Vader (wrestler)?
RandySavageFTW (talk) 19:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose he actually spent most of his career as Big Van Vader, but I wouldn't support a move to that. Darrenhusted (talk) 08:14, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support a move to Big Van Vader per comments made by Darrenhusted & since Vader is just a shortened version of Big Van Vader, there would be less confusion to a potential reader if reading that article name instead of Leon White. --Endless Dan 12:58, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support to Big Van Vader Gavyn Sykes (talk) 18:36, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose He has used numerous wrestling names and you guys are forgetting he has done a number of TV work, few films where he is credited under his real name. Govvy (talk) 18:56, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support "Big Van Vader". -- iMatthew T.C. 23:39, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Starrcade-1993-Vader.jpg
editThe image File:Starrcade-1993-Vader.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. Dubious
edit- "Derived from Japanese folklore, where Vader was a top warrior who once fought for his village seventy-two hours straight." This is complete Kayfabe. There is no such folk hero as "Vader". The name almost certainly came from Darth Vader and the "Big Van" is a misromanization of ビッグバン (Big Bang). Evan1975 (talk) 21:08, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah. Japanese doesn't even have a v sound, nor does it have words ending in r. LordApofisu (talk) 16:06, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
Luchas De Apuestas Record seems very out of place
editAn entire chart for one random match? Who even put that there in the first place? 173.2.64.195 (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
World title reign count
editEither the number mentioned is the opening should be higher than 8 since that figure doesn't include the CWA title, or the article needs to be rewritten to cease referring to it as the CWA WORLD Heavyweight Championship. I have no idea if CWA's title is considered a world title by most reputable sources, but either it is and should be reflected in the world title count, or it's not and should not be called such in the article.76.226.114.226 (talk) 21:02, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Simply being called a "world championship" doesn't make it so. But, in this case, it was a major promotion's top title and was contested on at least three continents. I say it counts. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:28, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
Middle name
editI left "Allen" in there but have requested a citation supporting it. Someone had put a link to cagematch next to it, but that only lists "Leon White" as an alter ego.
I added a cite for his being drafted in 78 but that only says "Leon White" so we still need to locate a reliable source affirming his middle name to be Allen. Ranze (talk) 16:20, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Death
editPer Twitter and other Pro Wrestling news sources, he passed away on Monday of pneumonia. 50.234.51.222 (talk)
- After pneumonia. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:00, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
And WWE hardly mentioned his death on TV. The only time it was mentioned by WWE on TV was the opening of tonight’s Raw. Cowboysfan3214 (talk) 00:12, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- That's standard respect for former big-name workers. That, a tweet and a YouTube video package. Only expect entire memorial episodes for those who die under contract, but appreciate these small gestures as far more than Well Dunn, Doug Furnas or Tom Zenk (among others) got. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:31, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- I don’t remember hearing that on YouTube. As Crash Holly died under contract but had no mention of his death on TV. Cowboysfan3214 (talk) 00:02, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- Crash died that summer (in the Mohegan Sun Arena), then was reborn in TNA as Mad Mikey before Mike Lockwood killed all three of himself that winter. I don't remember if he got the pre-Raw spot or not, but he's still officially remembered fondly today, unlike Johnny K-9, Test or Jim Powers. Here's Vader's package, anyway. Undiscussed page move
editWe've been at the unambiguous "Big Van Vader" for ten years since deciding to go with the name that he worked under longest and won the most gold with, and now one guy decides to go with the WWF version on today of all days. I tried to undo it, but the computer claimed this was already undone (which doesn't seem true, at least on this browser). So let's discuss this nonsense and see if newer editors like it or not. Removed erroneous claim about playing in Super Bowl XIV
editWhile many supposedly reliable sources repeated this at the time of his death (three guesses where they got that information from) this is simply not true. SBNation say he played just one season (although admitting Bleacher Report (who are listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Sources#Unreliable sources) say he did play in the Super Bowl). Leon White appears nowhere on the NFL's Super Bowl XIV page which included all substitutes and people who did not play. Similarly he doesn't appear on the complete list of NFL players, the Leon White that does appear is Leon White (linebacker). If Vader did play in the Super Bowl it would be recorded by the NFL, and sources written at the time should be able to confirm it. That they do not demonstrates the reality of the situation, no matter what sources written almost 30 years later say. 2A02:C7D:3C72:D200:511B:E498:B73D:6D09 (talk) 20:54, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
Widely regarded as one of the greatest
edit"Widely regarded as one of the greatest" is what our source says.[1] @TheManTheyCallAdam:, please either bring a WP:RS source for "Widely regarded as the greatest" or stop trying to force that into the article. NebY (talk) 13:02, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
