User:Vauxford I think you may not understand the Wikipedia policy Wikipedia:Image use policy or have decided to ignore it in favour of your preference. If you disagree with it you can try to get it changed via its talk page. I am removing the gallery you have recently replaced in favour of the version of the article where images are placed in the sections they illustrate.SovalValtos (talk) 18:45, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

SovalValtos Me and other editors have been using that method of gallery for years. Why is it now it against Wiki policy? --Vauxford (talk) 20:09, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Vauxford have you considered that your use of galleries may have been against policy for years? If you want more help the Wikipedia:Teahouse is a good place to start. Best wishes. SovalValtos (talk) 20:28, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@SovalValtos I don't appreciate the condescending suggestion that I have go to the Teahouse like I'm some new editor. I think other on here will agree with me that it an unnecessary policy. Vauxford (talk) 20:31, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Vauxford although I have been editing for quite a few years I still find the Teahouse provides good guidance. Some of the hosts there are founts of wisdom. I would be delighted to be pointed at resources for help rather than be offended. Good luck if you decide to attempt to change policy. I might follow your efforts with interest.SovalValtos (talk) 01:40, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mid-size or Full-size

edit

Different publications identify the DBX as different sizes. For example, the following publications identify it as full-size

Other publications identify it as mid-size

Personally, I would lean towards full-size because the sources are more reliable. I would prefer the size to be removed completely, but that is unlikely considering it goes back and for every day. For now, I am removing the size until a consensus is reached on this talk page. Please discuss. Bahooka (talk) 03:49, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Note that this a British car, so British (or otherwise European) sources should be prioritised in terms of how we describe the vehicle, per WP:ENGVAR and WP:CARCLASS. Overall it seems to me that generally speaking when it comes to things like vehicle size and body-style classification it should probably be left out of the first sentence and sometimes the infobox and instead discussed later in the lead section or in the body of the text if there is a significant amount of disagreement between sources. Accuracy should be preferred over precision in the lead section, so defaulting to terms which may seem vague to experts or enthusiasts is generally preferable to confusing readers who have come to the page intending to learn something, which in this case means introducing the article's subject as "a car" and then explaining that some sources call it "full-size" and some call it "mid-size" and that some call it an "SUV" and that others call it a "crossover" (or whatever exactly reliable sources are saying). WP:PEACOCK terms like "luxury" or "high-performance" should be avoided in the first sentence and shouldn't appear elsewhere without good-quality independent sources.
