File:Lycoperdon pyriforme Sasata scale.jpg to appear as POTD soon

edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Lycoperdon pyriforme Sasata scale.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on April 23, 2012. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2012-04-23. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 05:35, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The pear-shaped puffball (Lycoperdon pyriforme) is a saprobic fungus present throughout much of the world. Emerging in autumn, this puffball is common and abundant on decaying logs of both deciduous and coniferous wood. It is considered a choice edible when still immature and the inner flesh is white.Photo: Sasata

Why is the article title just the genus, and should we add the species epithet "pyriforme"?

edit

Currently, this article is titled "Apioperdon". This may be a mistake. The article appears to be specifically for the species Apioperdon pyriforme. I don't know how to (or if I am able to as a regular editor) change the titles on articles. If it should be changed, could someone please do this? MariahKRogers (talk) 01:31, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
