The first line of the Biography section manages to confuse three entirely separate insurance companies.

  1. Ange du Fresnay worked from 1858 to his death in 1900 for Phenix insurance in Paris, becoming an actuary and then Director General (=CEO?) - all this can be found buried in the 500+ pages of reference 1.
  2. The Phoenix Companies of Hartford is an American insurance company. It is definitely not the same as the company mentioned in 1., because in 1858, when du Fresnay started work in Paris, it was still using its original name, The American Temperance Life Insurance Company; it did not start to use the Phoenix name until 1860.
  3. Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) is a British insurance company. In 1984 RSA took over a British insurance company called Phoenix Assurance, originally founded in London in 1680 as the Phoenix Fire Office. This certainly had no connection with the US company mentioned in 2.

All these details have been obtained from the other Wikipedia articles linked to this one. Presumably the Biography should be edited to just refer to the Paris company. Hope this is helpful. I don't know anything about editing Wikipedia articles, so I just offer this as a comment in the interests of accuracy.
