3D Castle edit

The 3D castle products name was Castle Gamesdomain.

Deletion of the abuse edit

I deleted the remarks which were obscene towards Andrew Gower which were posted by a frustrated RuneScape player. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Draygen (talkcontribs) 22:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC) And boast about it? 121.79.28.198 (talk) 05:53, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Clean-Up edit

I have marked everything from "Creations and Programs" down as needing clean-up due to the following reasons

  • Past/Present Tense
  • Grammar
  • Repetition
  • Word Choice
  • Prioritization and Organization. What I mean by this is that the section starts off mentioning RuneScape, jumps to minor programs of Andrew's, leads into Devious MUD, and then, TA-DA!, we're back at RuneScape, mentioning the same information mentioned before. I suggest that the section "Creations and Programs" is followed subsections, e.g.
  • Early Programs
  • Devious MUD
  • RuneScape --Twipie 05:28, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Info source edit

You mention that information was gotten from his personal website? Where is this website exactly?

Xharock 15:42, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

His website was available through archive.org recently, but it was blocked for a reason I'll need to check out. I wish the site was still there, as thats where I got almost all this information. (from when I originally re-created this article, 95% of it still being there) ~ rih29 19:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I saved a copy of his CV from his old personal website when it was still available, but not the rest. However, I can confirm that he liked penguins (he actually had a whole page of his site dedicated to them). I also have some old pics of him (one from his site, the rest from the webcam). --Joshtek 12:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
What was the old url exactly? its almost impossible to find. EvilHom3r 23:34, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Middle Name? edit

whats his middle name?

It starts with a C. I'm not sure what it actually is though. ~ Rih29 06:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I seem to recall it's Christopher. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.21.96.85 (talk) 01:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Protection edit

Does anyone else think that perhaps this page ought to either be a) protected or b) deleted entirely? The latter is another discussion, but it seems the only edits to this page at all in the last month or two have been vandalism or reversions of such.—chris.lawson (talk) 03:09, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think it should be protected, because this should not have to change very much. It is about a person, not a current event. This is not just a normal everyday person, it is the creator of one of the largest mmorpg's out there. --cattrain 01:10, 9 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I recreated this page with enough information to qualify. I included lots of information about Andrew and DeviousMUD! If this page is vandalized, I would like it to be protected. ~ Rih29 06:12, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looking at WP:PPOL and WP:SPP, I really don't think this article meets the criteria for semi-protection, much less full protection. In fact, much of the notable information in here is already included under RuneScape and Jagex. Pyrospirit Talk Contribs 18:14, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Much of this information took research and none, if not, very little of it was found using those two articles. ~ rih29 21:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Game Question edit

Whats that monster game that Andrew Gower made before Runescape its one where you create your own monster and you battle to make it better...any ideas anyone?

I believe it may be Cyber-Wars? 06:08, ~ Rih29 06:09, 28 December 2006
I believe he's actually reffering to Battle Thingz. You created a monster using different parts of different animals/beasts to create your own monster you would fight, it was great fun :). I wish it was still around to play. 86.135.154.141 00:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Big tidy up - new references found, and original research removed edit

I have just spent a considerable amount of time with google and the wayback machine attempting to find references for this article. I've been through it a sentance at a time!, and have succesfully managed to find sources for most the key facts. The remaining stuff which was completely unatributable (and hence original research) I have removed, but I think the page is looking fairly good now if a little short. Before readding further facts please make sure they are properly referenced, and non-trivial. Thanks 85.211.227.3 22:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Picture? edit

I've noticed it's almost impossible to find a picture of him, even on Google. Is it possible to get a picture here? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.49.1.207 (talk) 16:59, 9 June 2007

Notablility? edit

Is he really particularly notable? He's started a company that makes a major MMORPG- ok, but does anything establish his notability? OSbornarf 22:16, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, he's been in a few newspapers (The Times Rich List for one) and on some of the big gaming sites a few times. CaptainVindaloo t c e 23:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Worth $650 million? edit

http://www.dulcenegosyante.com/top-20-internet-millionaires-under-30/ lists Andrew Gower as worth $650M (£331M). How reliable is this source? --RS Ren (talk) 21:33, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Truth? Or vandalism? edit

"Between 1995 and 1996 Andrew created Doom II."

I was about to revert this, but I wanted to ask first:Did Andrew Gower really help create Doom II? I know for a fact he didnt "create" it, but still, I was wondering if this was vandalism or not.--Roflthatnoobgotowned (talk) 01:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

He created a Doom clone called Destruction Imminent, but had nothing to do with Doom II. --RS Ren (talk) 17:26, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The mini games are not found on Jagex's main website anymore. edit

Only Vertigo remains on the main Jagex's website. The rest of the games have been improved and moved to Funorb. I would like to fix this on the site, but I can not since I am not a autoconfirmed user. --TehKittyCat (talk) 02:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am now a autoconfirmed user. I would Like to know if anyone supports the change before I make it since this page is semi-protected. TehKittyCat (talk) 23:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gower's Birthday edit

This page is in the category of living persons with birthdates missing (or something similar), yet on the Unofficial Andrew Gower website (listed in the article's external links),and other sites, it clearly states his birthdate as December 3rd, 1978. And since this page is semi-protected, I am not able to include that on the article. If someone does have access, could they confirm and add this fact? Thank you: Liwolf1

Yes, that is his birthdate and I added his birthdate last year but it was removed by Seriousspender as unreliable info. The birth date was originally formulated by myself based on tip.it's news post archive which has a happy birthday message (which is based on a post on the RuneScape website wishing Andrew and Lightning a happy birthday) for the day and month (it didn't state which birthday it was), and Andrew stating his age on the #RuneScape IRC channel which I have personal logs for. I guess neither are seen as sufficiently reliable or verifiable sources for Wikipedia. --RS Ren (talk) 11:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

So if andrew made doom 2 why does it now say he made doom 1 and 3 ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.29.119.13 (talk) 20:08, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Andrew didn't make any of the Dooms, only the Doom-clone Destruction Imminent. --RS Ren (talk) 18:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Citation for this? edit

Is there any proof that Mechscape is only a code name? Frozen4322 (talk) 19:46, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

They called it a code name in a recent press release and interview. The Jagex CEO recently told MechScape World in a statement of clarification that they were currently unsure whether or not the game would be called MechScape. --RS Ren (talk) 07:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, is there a link to this that we can add to the citations? Frozen4322 (talk) 13:41, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/Jagex-Ltd-965788.html and http://www.massively.com/2009/03/31/gdc09-what-jagex-has-in-store-with-mechscape/ and http://www.mechscapeworld.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6075&st=0&start=0 --RS Ren (talk) 18:38, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I have added the citations, Although i am no good with the dates for the references, so could someone do that for me? Frozen4322 (talk) 02:34, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Andrew Gower Interacting With Community edit

As said on the RuneScape article:

I think it's worth saying that the RuneScape Forums are being used by Andrew Gower, the co-creator of RuneScape, to interact with the community. I tried adding this in, but the reference didn't work as I'm not experienced enough with WikiPedia; would someone mind adding it for me? The reference is http://runescapez.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2669, you can see a screenshot of Andrew saying this himself.

Do you think it's worth adding? If so, please add it, elseways, disagree here. =D

Thanks

Currently all wiki articles must be placed in a Neutral Point of View, furthermore I remember that only the top three fan sites are to be included --Frozen4322 Talk Stalk Walk 12:45, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Use of Andrew Gower's fist name in the article edit

I hate to sound like a priss, but I think Gower's last name should be used in the article, not his first. -Cheesefee, the Ultimate Mario Fan- (talk) 02:55, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article split into parts edit

I decided to be bold, and split the article into sections. -Cheesefee, the Ultimate Mario Fan- (talk) 03:02, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. Let's get to work with a format like this...
   * 1 Early life
   * 2 Career
         o 2.1 Early career
         o 2.2 RuneScape
         o 2.3 MechScape
   * 3 Personal life
   * 4 Video game credits
   * 5 References
For a subsection about "MechScape" and "FunOrb" would have to have significant involvement in the projects. Also, no sources on Gower's "early life" has been found. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 19:59, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Consider adding a "Not to be confused with Andrew Gowers" template. Alex Douglas (talk) 20:12, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fen Research Ltd. edit

What do you think about adding reference to Andrew Gower's new startup company Fen Research Ltd ? It is not runescape related but it sounds like research based off the RuneTek engine. It sounds like some sort of gaming platform that they plan on developing.

You can view Andrew Gower's LinkedIn profile to find out what he's doing these days.

Currently he holds the position of Principal Architect at Jagex and CEO of Fen Research Ltd.

The related Fen Research job post is here:

Their site is still at a primitive stage, but the domain is registered to Andrew.
