The Gallery edit

Is the gallery sepcifically for art? I seem to remember their being a history exhibiton in their at some point (I may be going mad and getting confused with something else, though). I can't find any contacts or references to cite one way or the other (in fact, I cannot find any refernce to it at all, even though I know it exists, after going to the photography exhibition in there the other weekend)

Sources edit

It's impossible to completely reference everything I've added to the article. It's not original research however. I had some spare time and actually visited the Ancient House today and gleaned a lot of information from a museum room they have there. The old fashioned notebook and pen served me well here! I also took a trip to the tourist information centre who gave me a printout of various information which I included.

I can't cite any online sources for any of this article, but I did the legwork and visited the building and took notes from the museum section. Hope this is good enough =) Cєlαя∂σяєTalk 23:31, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I've added a link to the Images of England website - responsible for a database of all listed buildings in england - suggest you rewrite most of the site's pertinent information in an encyclopedic style. regards --Mcginnly | Natter 19:16, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Ancient House Bookshop edit

For as long as I could remember and probably since before I was born, there was a large bookshop there, housed in a maze-like series of rooms with creaking floorboards. It was an Ipswich landmark. There were a pair of identical twins on the staff. Then all of a sudden, in the late eighties I think, overnight this shop selling plastic kitchen stuff suddenly appeared in its place!!!!!! A very retrograde step if you ask me - the council should have subsidised the bookshop's rent to allow them to continue. I'm not sure if Ipswich has a bookshop anymore - shame! There was also a historic chapel in the roof (I think) of the bookshop that you could ask to see, although I never did. This article could be linked to other similar buildings in Ipswich - such as the ancient merchant's house next to the docks. Next to the Custom House was or is a signboard that shows where several of these historic buildings in the area are, and they are not yet mentioned in Wikipedia. 80.2.194.116 (talk) 21:54, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
