I think the Area and Population numbers in the page side bar need a revision. Outside the Netherlands there is already a misconception that Amsterdam equals The Netherlands, and these numbers don't help eliminate that: Amsterdam is the city and municipality of Amsterdam. The urban area around it consists of other towns and municipalities which are not part of Amsterdam, and Randstad is the combined name of the big cities in the The Netherlands that form a sort of belt: Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam and Utrecht. The size and number of inhabitants of these areas are not information about Amsterdam and I think they should be removed. Angeloh (talk) 22:16, 16 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thai translation edit

Why is there a Thai translation? I understand why there’s Dutch but not Thai. SuperNova422 (talk) 16:20, 6 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sister Cities edit

There seem to be some discrepancies between the sister cities listed on the English-language Amsterdam page and the Dutch-language Amsterdam page and I was curious as to why that's the case. Here are the sister cities on the Dutch-language page, since Dutch is the official language of the Netherlands it seems like this would be the most accurate depiction of Amsterdam's partnerships:

No mention of slavery? edit

It's a bit extraordinary that this article makes no mention of slavery, when Amsterdam was a leading port city of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. A rather starling omission. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 20:12, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Weesp edit

The map is out of date, the Municipality of Weesp is added to the municipality of Amsterdam. 31.21.223.74 (talk) 12:20, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not the same data as Municipalities list page edit

I was comparing population density of places in the Netherlands using the Municipalities of the Netherlands article. The total population and density of Amsterdam is not the same in both articles. Close but not the same. Is it the date of the data, or different definitions of what comprises Amsterdam? Density in that article is 4,812/km2 (12,460/sq mi) and population is 903,399, footnote says as of 1 January 2022. The density in this article about Amsterdam is higher. - - Prairieplant (talk) 19:36, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
