External links modified edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Alpha Omega Alpha. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Restoration of Controversies section and NPOV issues edit

I have restored a section on Controversies that was removed last year, despite it being notable information that was reliably sourced. The comments left by the anonymous editor did not provide valid Wiki policy reasons for their deletion, and implied a personal bias or conflict of interest in their edits. And it seems that no one chose to take the back-and-forth revisions to the Talk page, to request a consensus on deletion of that section.

The removal of that section, as well as text like "one-of-a-kind" and "beacon for medical humanities" suggest that much of the editing of this page does not adhere to WP:PROMO. In addition, there are several claims made in the article without any sources to verify them, such as, "ΑΩΑ membership is recognized by medical institutions and practices around the world, and offers an advantage for members applying for residencies, fellowships and permanent career positions." Obviously the page requires NPOV review, which is why I have added the Advert tag to it; because there's too much for me to do on my own, in any kind of timely manner.

To avoid undoing any standard maintenance edits that have been made since the removal of the Controversies section, I have pulled the text from the last version which included it, and restored it manually. If you believe the section should not exist, please give your reasons on the Talk page, so they can be discussed to a consensus, before you delete it.

I feel like there's too much there to start throwing "needs reference" tags all over the article text, but I will try to work my way through each section and source or remove information as I go. If you do see something in particular that needs cleanup, and you don't have time to do it yourself, please add it as a section to the Talk page. CleverTitania (talk) 08:07, 26 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Chapter List edit

Best complete list that I've been able to find is in the 1991 Baird's but that is a copy of the list from 1977 and as such only goes to that point. I think the AOA website only has actives since I have had difficulty finding any list that includes "Alpha of Massachusetts" which are the letters for Harvard's inactive chapter.Naraht (talk) 11:49, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
