Some Preparatory Notes for use in the article edit

Collonges Seminary Anniversary

THE FRENCH Adventist Seminary celebrated its sixtieth anniversary with a ceremony on June 14. The Alfred Vaucher Library, a modern structure representing the first stage of a building that will include the Faculte Adventiste de Theologie, was officially inaugurated in the presence of many former presidents of the school and other guests. Dr. Vaucher, the first librarian of the school in 1921, cut the ribbon to open the library.

EDINBURGH: Special Guest

On 30 June our Edinburgh church was privileged to welcome, as guest speaker, 92-

• year-old Pastor Alfred Vaucher, a third- generation Adventist from Switzerland. His sermon, delivered in French, was ably trans- lated by our own Sister E. Binns. Pastor

>- Vaucher was for many years teacher of theol- ogy, the principal of our Seventh-day Adventist College at Collonges, France. He told us the now fairly well-known story of Michael Belina

t- Czechowski, the Pole and one-time priest, who became an Adventist in America during the last

- century. Of his own volition, and against the wishes of the General Conference, he had

•» crossed the Atlantic and landed in Northern Italy and it had been through him that our speaker's grandmother became the first Euro- pean Seventh-day Adventist.

IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS CONCLUDE SURVEY 1027 XI. Professor Vaucher—Handbook of Continental Conditionalism

One of the most valuable contributions to come from French-Swiss sources is Prof. ALFRED VAUCHER'SIO° collation of key excerpts from French and Swiss Conditionalists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Issued in 1957, this 111- page book is the most complete assemblage of Romance- language statements on Conditionalism on record. Because of its completeness and excellence, Vaucher has been called the Swiss "Encyclopedist of Conditionalism." (Photo on page 1018.)
