Talk:Abdul Rahim Sarban

Untitled edit

I changed the insanity section with alcoholism, because I know from credible sources that Sarban was an alcoholic.

My grandfather was one Sarban's friends, and he mentioned that once in a party he was about to be forced to have a drink (my grand father was a teetotaler for religious reasons) and Sarban took the drink away and dunk it himself.

Fair use rationale for Image:Sarbanx5.jpg edit

Image:Sarbanx5.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ethnicity edit

On 20 January 2008, Anoshirawan said: "I have provided a reliable source for sarban's ethnicity." Anoshirawan's edit indicated that Sarban was an ethnic Tajik based upon "Professor Enayatullah Shahrani (Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University) (1999). Bazmeh Ghazal. Unfortunately, that is not an adequate citation for verifiability. Wikipedia policy says: "Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed." Here, ethnicity has been challenged. Wikipedia:Verifiability - Non-English sources goes on to say, "Because this is the English Wikipedia, for the convenience of our readers, English-language sources should be used in preference to foreign-language sources, assuming the availability of an English-language source of equal quality, so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly." and provides detailed instructions about foriegn language material. In addition, Wikipedia provides a guide as to what information will help readers and other editors find the information. See Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you don't understand what information is needed, please ask. --Bejnar (talk) 22:55, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I shell Let everyone know that Anoshirawan Has lied and used sources which did not existed and every article he touched he used unreliable sources and everywhere he his gang came up with the word "Persian" or Tajik" or Afghanistani. As an Afghan my self and without placing my self in any religious sacts like the above user I fully know Wikipedia has been damaged heavily and because this famous Sarban had no reliable sources other then made up ones by users above with their own theories and unreliable source (Professor Enayatullah Shahrani (Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University) (1999). Bazmeh Ghazal) This is indeed shocking that so much afford was made to make up such great lies. I shell conclude that Afghanistan is made up of many groups but over all they are majority belongs to Afghan origin and those minorities like Immigrant Tajiks, Turkmans or remains of invaders such as Uzbeks/Hazaras also belong to nationality of Afghanistan leaving peacefully near each other. Although Many source provide different data and demographics regarding Afghanistan simply because of language classification, but Afghan themselves few their nation Afghanistan meaning "Land of Afghans" since we all know no nation is made of purely one race, but Afghans themselves feel the people in this nation Afghanistan are pure or at least above 70% native. I am going to change this page with a source. Since users like above who supported the idea of him wrongly being Tajik already tried to use foreign language material I am going to add up an information which is more liable and available to the user.

I have added a video from RTA a documentary regarding Sarban and his life time history. I shell make a notice to those who don't know Radio Television Afghanistan is one of the oldest broadcasting organization owned by Government of Afghanistan. This is indeed the best source only if i am not breaking any roles. Alishah85 (talk) 06:34, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Citations requested edit

Given how famous Sarban is, why cannot citations be found to multiple reliable, verifiable sources? --Bejnar (talk) 13:24, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dear Bejnar I have added another external sources to his songs. This is a response to an un-informed user with IP User:84.59.202.75 this violent seems to be extra uncomfortable with truth and makeup over his theories, by claiming some vague claims such as claiming Arbabzai as an Tajik tribe. This is not only shocking but heart breaking to how un-informed someone could actually get. True that majority of Arbabzai living in northern regions speak fully Dari. But Again language does not represent, Afghan tribes have their own history and this prove the word "Tajik" for 38% of Afghans doesn't fit well with the idea of relating Afghans with majority Persian speakers of Turkistan, such as Tajikistan. true there are Tajiks in Afghanistan who moved into the area during Russian invasion but thanks to the russians the word today even applies to Mohmmadzais' Atakzais, Arbabzais, and majority of Durranis who speak Dari, which the reason why there is a greater shrinkage of Pashtu speakers, today made up of 48% of Afghanistan Pashtun, and if we are to ignore their mother tongue Dari and include back those people who were included as 38% Tajik by Russians this pashtun class 48% would get back to 86% which leaves the Afghan race being over 80% now if we are to exclude real Tajiks maybe at least 75% of Afghanistan would be counted as "Pure" Afghan. At least tribally connected.

Anyways I have added an External link to this member who changed at 17:23, 25 January 2009 user IP 84.59.202.75 who changed the article to continue with his own made-up stuffs such claims as You freaking idiots, you deny your own POV by giving the correct information that he was the son of Pir Mohammad Khan. Sarban sang only in Persian, otherwise bring Pashtu songs SO there i have added few samples of his Pashtu songs. He further claims at 17:20, 25 January 2009 84.59.202.75 What a joke and what a try. The video does not mention him beeing a Pashtun, just beeing from Kandahar...but everyone know that. Kandahars population is made up to 40% by Tajiks. Monkey Pashtuns right there he not only acted violent but also agree to that fact that he is from Kandahar and he further claims he is not mentioned as "Pashtun" despite the Documentary declares his father's being a tribal leader of Sardarjan village which also belongs to Sarban tribe, and his further shocking claims of Kandahar being 40% Tajik???. I be very amazed that people of Turkistan made it as far as Kandahar? I knew their records and settlers of some half million during 19th century and later some 300,000 during 1990s TODAY could only reach 3 million but if today 40% of Kandahar are also related to their group? well then what happened to the natives? These people are indeed misleading people, and i think they should be banned and their supporters who continuously right after these mini-new-user IPs change it violently. Its very Unfortunate these supporting members who changed these article have changed it for the past 3 years (CHECK HISTORY).

Anyways facts should remain same Sarban was an Afghan, he belonged to Kandahar (Born in Kandahar) from Sarban clan and he also sang in Pashtu. Alishah85 (talk) 23:00, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

95% of Sarban's songs are in Persian and singing a few songs in Pashto were mandatory in Afghanistan. Sarban is from the Barana district of Kabul city. --71.107.11.87 (talk) 23:32, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
