nameEdit

I think the name of article should be 2019 Iraqi protests or October 2019 Iraqi protests, because this new protests begun in October 2019 --FPP (talk) 13:52, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

orderEdit

I would reverse the order and discuss the 2019 protests first. Tedperl (talk) 17:34, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

No need. I'd just write a passage about current protests in the lead. STSC (talk) 17:42, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

New articleEdit

October 2019 protests should be in a new article, because this protests isnt related to protests of 2018, and also Moqtada Sadar he is not leader of this protests. there is no leader to this protests until now --FPP (talk) 22:01, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Agreed. The October protests are a completely new and separate movement. The infobox is also highly misleading as it suggests that the protesters are all part of these fringe groups rather than being a big tent movement. Lightspecs (talk) 23:48, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
How does this title sound: October 2019 Iraqi protests? David O. Johnson (talk) 01:14, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Charles Essie (talk) 03:26, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
@David O. Johnson: Sounds good to me too. comrade waddie96 ★ (talk) 13:47, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
Should this article then remain named 2018–19 Iraqi protests, it may be conflicting with the October 2019 Iraqi protests name. I suggest moving leftover content to 2018 Iraqi protests. comrade waddie96 ★ (talk) 13:51, 8 October 2019 (UTC) (Please ping me)
I agree completely. Charles Essie (talk) 16:12, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

─────────────── @FFP: Could you maybe clarify Moqtada Sadar's role in this? I suppose we can specify in infobox that he's a leader like this Moqtada Sadar (since XXX)? comrade waddie96 ★ (talk) 14:03, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

@Waddie96: no Moqtada Sadar he isnt leader of this current protests, maybe some politicians would describe their support to this protests, but no one from this protesters announced that they are with Moqtada --FPP (talk) 14:51, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

 • Oppose - 2018 and 2019 protests have the same cause that is due to poor living conditions. STSC (talk) 23:39, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

@STSC: No 2018 protests was only in southern provinces, the main issue was bad electricity in this provinces, this protests ended after two months. current protests begun from Baghdad and then spreaded to other provinces, the main issue is unemployment --FPP (talk) 21:30, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

As the infobox indicates: poor basic services and unemployment, etc. are the causes of these protests. You can't single out just one reason for 2018 and 2019 protests. It's better to group them together. STSC (talk) 14:46, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
Maybe we could keep this keep this page as an umbrella article while also creating separate articles for the 2018 and 2019 articles. This is what we've done for the Venezuelan protests. Charles Essie (talk) 15:34, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

MapEdit

Is there any way I can use {{Location map+}} to create a map for this article showing the 4 places the protests are occuring? (viz. Baghdad, Amara, Nasiriya, and Basra.) Unfortunately, when I try use it in |map_type= it doesn't allow the aforementioned template i.e. one can only display a single label and pog. comrade waddie96 ★ (talk) 13:46, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
