Lead edit

  • Millwall had spent two years in the third tier of English football while Bradford City had not played in the second tier for thirteen seasons. - Either go with the third tier or the second tier for these two teams not be different with each other.
The difference is deliberate to avoid quick repetition of the same phrases. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Have they taken on each other before in a play-off final as the 2018 and 2019 does but not this one.
The 2018 wasn't a play-off final, it was a trophy final. As far as I know they hadn't played each other in any kind of final. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...late in the second to... missing the word "half" in this bit of a sentence.
Added. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Millwall ended the following season in eighth position in the EFL Championship... - Possibly link that to the 2018 EFL Championship
It's already linked in the lead. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...while Bradford City finished 11th in League One... - Similiar to the Milwall section but instead link to League One.
Linked. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Route to the final edit

  • This can be ignored if not necessary but I feel like the Milwall and Bradford could be switched so that Bradford summary is higher due to finishing in 5th to compared to Milwall.
I start the section's first para with Bradford, so I don't want to be repetitive and start the second with them too. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...the match ended goalless - Any real chances in that match just to extend that brief section.
Not really. The review of the game noted it was "lacklustre". Added that there were few chances. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...Scunthorpe's ground Glanford Park. - Probably best to drop "ground" to make it similiar to the second paragraph where only you mention the away stadium
It's because it doesn't necessarily sound like a football ground. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...levelled the match and the tie. - If the first game was goalless than incuding "and the tie" is redunant.
Dropped. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Also around what minutes were the goals scored
I think that's probably too much detail, this is just background. The real details should be reserved for the Final itself. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 13:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Background edit

  • ...Scunthorpe United but triumphed the following season in the 2010 Football League One play-off Final... - Could have the following season linked to the 2010 play-off final instead of a separate link.
I prefer to keep it as it is for context and keeping the reader alert as to which season I'm talking about. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 06:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...had also seen success and failure... - I know what I am thinking but can't quite get it out as success and failure seems constricting of each other. Maybe something that played 2 finals at Wembley with one win and one loss.
Rephrased a touch. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 06:47, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • ...to Swansea City in that season's League Cup Final. - I assume you are talking about 2013 here as it's not 100% clear.
Removed obfuscation. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 06:47, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • During the regular 2016–17 season, both fixtures between the clubs had ended in 1–1 draws - Change it to "In the regular season, both fixtures between the clubs had ended in a 1-1 draw" as we know that the season was based of 2016-17.
I disagree, because I've talked about several different seasons prior to this sentence so this helps the reader get drawn back to the focus of the subject matter. The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 06:47, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
