Mistake in Hunan Province section edit

(How can there be more people affected (770 million), than the whole province has inhabitants?, maybe i understand something wrong due my bad english) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.193.134.62 (talkcontribs) 22:14, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good point, I've removed the comment. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 22:14, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Zhejiang Province edit

Zhejiang Province

'At present, all disaster casualties, property losses and other disaster situation are under further statistics.'

It would be helpful to know what 'under further statistics' means. I am keen to know the situation in Zhejiang but this tells me nothing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Holden3 (talkcontribs) 18:42, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the section as it doesn't make sense. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 19:51, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

2011 china floods edit

I started an article 2011 China Floods

I note that the article here has "Duration: 10 May – present"

I'm presuming that is 10 May 2010 to 'some particular date near the end of 2010 and that the flooding did not continue until the present - it's currently June 2011. If I'm wrong then this article should probably change it's name to 2010 and 2011 china floods, otherwise this article needs a little update. EdwardLane (talk) 09:51, 9 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

based on there being no reports of flooding in september 2010 I assumed it had stopped by then, so I made that change, but please feel free to correct my ignorance :) EdwardLane (talk) 17:05, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Geography of China edit

I don't know the geography of China very well (pardon my ignorance).

So a big list of provinces with casualty figures is not very clear to me I found this map of the provinces by population in millions. Either can that be tweaked to make a comparative map showing number of casualties ? Or just included somewhere?

2009 China floods edit

Well I expected to find an article called 2009 China floods but I only found 2009 Luoding flood am I just failing to find it - in which case please create a redirect.

Otherwise there is a lot of information (for example [1])suggesting the flooding in 2009 was fairly substantial - 12.39 billion USD economic damage, 131 million Mu (8.73 million hectares) of farmland and 111 million people affected, 116 cases of flood in mountain areas resulting in 430 (out of 536?) deaths.

it also said it was down 30% from the previous year - so I'd also expect a 2008 China floods article - though I presume that is this 2008 South China floods ?

Hmm I tried looking for 2007 China floods - this [2] says flood death toll was 1,138 which was down about 50 percent! and the the Huai River suffered its worst flood since 1954 in July, displacing hundreds of thousands of wheat farmers for nearly a month. and apparently that was not the final total (The flood season was not over yet...)
Also interesting 37,000 of China's 85,000 dams had "ailments and dangers" bulk built between 1950 and 1970s, with the problems of inherent design defects and poor maintainence.

This Southern_China_Flood_of_2006 is just a stub yet this [3] reports 3,155 human deaths in China in 2006, the highest figure since 1998.

I see a reasonable overvew here [4] though it's obviously missing some stuff. so I'm working on a list of drought and flood evets in china in my sandbox. EdwardLane (talk) 20:28, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
