Strength edit

Now, i believe this was a solid F4 in strength, but is it possible for a tornado with a rating of F4 to have some F5 damage, or to be an F5 "briefly"? Here's an example of the destruction the Windsor Tornado did that the Windsor Star claims to be "marginal F5 damage": http://www.on.ec.gc.ca/canwarn/images/3.jpg. Almost all F5 tornadoes are only an F5 briefly. Often only one or two structures recieve F5 damage, and that is the basis for rating the tornado. I can't remember the source, but I read that on average, only 1% of an F5 tornado's damage path is actual F5 damage.

As for the Windsor Tornado, it was not an F5. Additionally, in the picture above, the house is not swept clean, and looking at the concrete blocks which don't appear to have any mortar on them, the foundation of this structure was not reinforced in the least. Do you have a link to the newspaper article? While they are not an authoritative source on rating tornadoes, it would be nice to see what they have to say. -RunningOnBrains 17:46, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
