I do not understand this category. Surely all Quakers have ministry? There are elders, but not appointed ministers? Can someone explain? Eebahgum 17:36, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the 1600's of England, The Religious Society of Friends recorded Public Friends in ministry as evidenced in the Valiant Sixty recorded ministers. Recorded ministers and elders sat in the front of the meetinghouse on the Facing Benches. Today recorded ministers are those who have been approved by their yearly meeting. <See "The Valiant Sixty" by Ernest E. Taylor and/or George Fox and the Valiant Sixty by Elfrida Vipont.>
