My ancestor is likely not important enough to be listed? Robert Wm. James was born Wilmington, N.C., Nov 11, 1811, and died Biloxi, Miss., April 14, 1898; the son of Wilmington War of 1812 artillery 4th Sgt. Joshua & Hetty-Bella Sage James, Sr. He was the civilian master of the Army transport (S.S.?) "General Hamer" out of New Orleans in the Mexican-American War. His siblings were John Sage James of Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. Sarah Julia James McIntire of Kenansville, N.C., and Joshua James, Jr., of Natchez, Miss., then "Ioned" Plantation, defunct "New Carthage", Louisiana, buried New Orleans, intimate friend of Jeff Davis. James A. Miller, Jr., Southport, N.C. LtCol. (1850's Holmes Co., Miss., militia) Robert Wm. James's only child was Biloxi ship's pilot and harbormaster, Capt. Harry Copp James, N.O.1848 -1923 Biloxi.
