editIf this category was intended to be a list of people with some notability with reference to the Anglican faith, then it seems like a perfectly good category to have. But people are being added whose faith appears to incidental to their notability (eg. Kate Winslett is a fine actress, but I doubt has contributed much to Anglican theology, or church management, or whatever).
If, on the other hand, this category is intended to be a list of all notable people who happen to be Anglicans, I'd have to ask exactly what benefit such a category brings to Wikipedia, apart from using up a lot of bandwidth.
Can somebody explain what this category is for please, preferrably in the article header. -- chris_j_wood 11:42, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes I agree with you. Given that "traditionally" the overwhelming majority of English people have been baptised in the established church, the category is virtually meaningless in England. I happened upon it whilst I was looking at Benjamin Disraeli, who is categorised as an Anglican. I think it should be reserved for people for whom Anglicanism is a notable part of their life or work.
