Image copyright problem with Image:Summit-lorez.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Summit-lorez.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 12:01, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

sarcasm? edit

I don't know how the `sth happend to fasiscists' statement feats into Wiki. But it's your pagina.

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Andy Shaw, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Andy Shaw. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:29 the cat.JPG edit

I have a cat that would let me do that to him too, and probably it wouldn't hurt or bother him at all, (and it would be funny, because I'd know I wasn't hurting him) but the picture as it stands is kind of disturbing and is unlikely to ever be used in any encyclopedia article. Someone has already tagged it for speedy deletion and I'm inclined to do delete it. Please let me know what your intention was in uploading this photo. Cheers. Dina 04:25, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for responding. It isn't really an issue of censorship, so much as utility. Wikipedia doesn't generally host images purely for creating galleries on userpages. I did not tag the image as offensive (someone else did)-- as I said, I can see that the cat probably isn't being harmed. But it's difficult to see where else in the encyclopedia the image could possibly be useful (we don't have an article on Fake kitty torture) and it's clearly offended at least one editor. That's why I asked. Note: Adding it to Animal abuse was, honestly, not the world's smartest idea. It will likely be deleted very quickly, whether I do anything about it or not. Cheers. Commodity Fetishism and diamonds and cars and pearls and anything luxury... edit

With your rationale, you would quite happily and arbitrarily add a link to any article that seems to fit the notion of commodity fetishism. If diamonds are an example of commodity fetishism is quite different to a related page link. The 'See also' section is to direct the reader to articles that RELATE to diamonds NOT luxury in general. Your link is irrelevant to the article topic. SauliH 05:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:S1-kultur-2 copy.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:S1-kultur-2 copy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. License tagging for Image:Thigahmahji martinlut 101b.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Thigahmahji martinlut 101b.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

To revert to a pre-vandalism version, I had to overwrite your updates to her page. Please feel free to re-add them. As the aldermanic election nears, People are mistakenly believing that vandalising her page will help or hurt other candidates. Most serious challengers believe that Daley's record should be made public and that rational discussion of her strengths and weaknesses will lead to appropriate results in the election. So addition of NPOV positive and negative information to her page will be welcomed and not arbitrarily deleted. But I am keeping a close watch on it for vandalism. Chicago Coalition for Change and Progress edit

A tag has been placed on Chicago Coalition for Change and Progress, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Piuro 19:45, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Chicago paper was published by anarchists, the kind of Germans that the fascists murdered. The fascists certainly did not borrow ideas from them just because they wrote in the same language. Are you thinking of the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung? --Orange Mike 01:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC) (hopes you realize "Zeitung" means "Times")Reply

yes i understand that but im more interested in how people of any political base will have the need to study and criticize other political structures. I was actually making a link (putting those double brackets in) of Arbeiter Zeitung on the - i forget - haymarket riot page? and when it was blue, i clicked on it and found the fascist article and all i could think is how ideas flow from one direction into another meaning that the anarchist workers paper printed in chicago would have a fascist counterpart printed in germany several decades later! The first must have affected the second. The population of germans in chicago was tied to the germans in germany by family, history, language, culture etc. and this would help these ideas promulgate.

?What fascist article? There was an anti-fascist paper of the same name in Austria many years later; but no fascist paper had that name. Are you sure you don't have things mixed up here? --Orange Mike 02:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC) (in schöne Milwaukee)Reply

oh shit maybe i put somethign in my bong that i shouldnt have, but i could swear thta there was a fascist paper of the same name on here......

The political graffiti gallery edit

Hi. I just wanted to explain my edit to you: I removed the gallery in the Graffiti article itself because there is already a link to a gallery of political graffiti present (the commons template in the external links section). The 'Uses' section also starts with an example of political graffiti and that is sufficient for the article itself as an visual example: see guidelines Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Images. I suggest you add the pictures to the gallery in commons, if you'd like. I also want to note that some of the pictures in the gallery weren't political though: e.g. the viking graffiti, the kilroy graffiti. Or what do you suggest? Proposed deletion of IBM and the Holocaust edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article IBM and the Holocaust, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you know? edit

Don't you know how to rotate an image?

It is easy.

For example, using MSFT Paint:

Open MSFT Paint.

Select the image using, File, Open, then browse for the image.

With the image open in MSFT Paint, select Image, Flip/Rotate.

Then choose how you want to rotate the image:

Flip horizontal
Flip vertical
Rotate by angle
90°
180°
270°

Say, "Rotate by angle", 90°.

This will fix an image like,  , would now be how it is supposed to be. I would be embarrassed to post such a simple fix.

The picture, we thought, would help us find it as we aimlessly wandered through the Waldheim Cemetery yesterday. Luckily it was a beautiful day.

Is it possible for you to give me some sort of idea as to where this is? I heard it isnt too far from one of the entrances and Im wondering if we were in the complete wrong cemetery alltogether as we were surrounded by different ones on all sides of the street.

It would be much appreciated.

Can you email me at myyellowchair@gmail.com?

7th millenium BC figurines photo edit

Hi, thank you for uploading this photo. Unfortunately, I've had to remove several instances of its usage because the the phrase "anthropomorphised rocks" is factually, grammatically and syntactically incorrect. There are numerous fields that study such figurines, these include archeology and art history, but linguistics is not really one of them. The subjects within the work of art may be anthropomorphic, however the same cannot be said of the medium. Otherwise, for instance, you could describe a painting as an "anthropomorphised canvas". ˉˉanetode╦╩ 23:08, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Swaptree.com edit

A tag has been placed on Swaptree.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.

Accounting4Taste:talk 20:55, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Graffiti Blasters edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Graffiti Blasters, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non notable company

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Luk talk 13:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Flaneur_Sharkula.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. Speedy deletion nomination of Zoom H4n edit

A tag has been placed on Zoom H4n, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. A tag has been placed on Oliver Hodge requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. Thank you for uploading File:Sputnik the Cat.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Hi Victor, I wonder why you do not upload your images at Wikimedia Commons, so every project could use them, instead of uploaing them at the English Wikipedia? Regards, Pilettes (talk) 12:21, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I noticed it while having a look at the images from the eartship-article. But in general it is a little bit a shame, that not ervery project can benefit from your pictures. Perhaps you can change your force of habit and upload in the future at the commons, so we all can benefit from your contributions. If you have a image uploaded at wikipedia and not in commons and I think it would be useful to have it at the commons, I will upload them there (if copyright makes no problems) but we all can have it easier. Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Charles Bernardini. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article Charles Bernardini has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Replaceable fair use File:Nytimes_occupywallstreet.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Nytimes_occupywallstreet.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please remove the tag.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 02:43, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Nytimes occupywallstreet.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Nytimes occupywallstreet.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

Your contributed article, History of debt edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, History of debt. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Debt. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Debt - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:16, 1 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with File:Fort Dearborn.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Fort Dearborn.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:14, 5 November 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:14, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thinking cap edit

Proposed deletion of Thinking cap edit

The article Thinking cap has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a dictionary

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of David Caton edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on David Caton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Sure! - I have tentative plans to travel around 6-12 to 6-21 but these dates are not set yet, and may change. Can you do me a big favor and refer me to some Wikipedians whom I should talk to? Victor Grigas (talk) 21:58, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your message edit

Hello, Victor! If you plan to go to Russia, I can help to translate your message into Russian. And if you yourself do not know with whom you can meet, then it's not a problem. Can I ask in the Russian Wikipedia, referring to you, who will meet with you. But I myself participate in your idea to, unfortunately I can not. And I apologize for any poor translation of this letter) Thank you. --Korol Bumi (talk) 07:32, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Korol Bumi!

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm sad that you aren't interested in participating, because I have many questions for you, but I'm very happy that you want to help me to find some interesting editors. Can you introduce me to some interesting editors whom you know?

Can I send you a document in Russian and you can read it and tell me if it is correct?

Thank you!

Victor

  • Of course, on the translation into Russian, you can right now) I can not participate personally, because physically I did not get to do it. I live in the Transbaikal region, which is very far from the main mass of editors RuWiki. I'll write a post about your arrival. But what exactly is to write about? And with any Russian (possibly large) you copied the editors on this? Someone has to meet Al. Thank you. --Korol Bumi (talk) 08:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think first and foremost, you need to write Vladimir Medeyko (Dr Bug: meta and RuWiki). So it will be more accurate. Do not worry, he knows English well. User page images edit

Hello, your user page is about 18 MB heavy, are you sure this is wise? Nemo 10:47, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Collapsing the images will still make people load them on page opening, you need to move them on another page or make them smaller. If you want to transclude them here there's perhaps some way (which I don't know) to load them dynamically, but the easiest thing to do is to place them all on a subpage and direct people there, so that those who don't care about loading such a huge page can just do it, and those who arrived on your user page randomly e.g. to click "talk" or to check your user language information can do so. Thanks, Nemo 16:52, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of You Weren't There edit

The article You Weren't There has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability, and none found in my search as per WP:BEFORE. No obvious redirect target.

Speedy deletion nomination of Franz Huth edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Franz Huth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cloud filmmaking edit

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Cloud filmmaking, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://vimeo.com/57467478.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Cloud filmmaking edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cloud filmmaking requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:20, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Frank Bardacke edit

The article Frank Bardacke has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Presumably, we fit each WikiReader with a program logging all activity (The times the articles are opened and closed, and the names of the article) somewhere. Then someone retrieves just the logging information from these after 6 months. At the same time, we might also be looking towards possibly replacing the memory cards with updated ones.

That way, we could be potentially looking towards some good research on how these Readers are utilised by the children, which would help immensely in understanding various kinds of trends. [What I had in mind was something similar to the Hole in The wall project by Prof Sugata Mitra, which makes me think directly contacting them might not be a bad idea either.]

Do tell me your thoughts on the same. Cheers, TheOriginalSoni (talk) 11:06, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

I don't know how we could implement this, I just think that it would take quite a bit of work, and then you have ethical considerations about 'monitoring' people (children) who look things up. I think that your idea would yield better data, but i think simply looking at grades over time would be less energy intensive (no need to program or install anything) and more ethical. I'm open to your ideas about this too. (and sorry for the delay, I have been away for a bit) Victor Grigas (talk) 14:10, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
I think it could be worth a shot to ping the prof, and see what he thinks about it. What do you think?
Also, if we're looking at grades, there will be tests based on General Knowledge, right? Not strictly school grades
[No worries about the delay. It's fine :) ]
Cheers,

Article ideas for Xhosa Wikipedia edit

Hi, Victor!

At xh:User:WhisperToMe I have a list of proposed topics for the Xhosa Wikipedia. Many are related to South Africa, and if Xhosa articles are established in these topics it can lead to more people coming to the Xhosa Wikipedia. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:50, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

South African high school video edit

Hello Victor, I've previously conversed with you about the video, although I can't find which talk page that was on. You said the video is still being prepared, which I well understand, but I would love, love, love to show it in the opening session of the EduWiki Conference on 1st November. Is there any chance the video will be available for public consumption by then? Cheers, MartinPoulter Jisc (talk) 11:22, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi! So the 2 minute trailer should be up and online in about a week. We are still working on the full documentary, and don't have an exact date for that yet. I'll publish blog posts when each are up :)Victor Grigas (talk) 15:33, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looks like it's not online yet so I can't use it in the opening of the conference (but yeah I know how it is with busy blogs that need to be scheduled in advance). I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Dub Terminator for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

Video production at Wikimania edit

Hi Victor, I've seen your are producing a lot of videos and I'm looking for people who are attending Wikimania this year to collaborate in production (esp. because I am not able to edit video myself) and it's mor fun together. Would you like to join my submission?

And do you know other Wikipedians who could be interested? I (hope I) will be offering a production tutorial, too:

--BR, .js (talk) 09:47, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Jan!

I'm happy that you got in touch with me, so I have several ideas about this. It sounds like your first submission is a sort of informal video-tech gathering, no? It's cool and if I have time, I'd love to participate, (I just signed up for it).

But your second submission really interests me. I'd love to talk to everyone about tools to create video. I'm a big fan of low-tech and high tech cameras. Basically the community is made up of a huge volume of people who have computers and can edit and move things around online, but not alot of people who can create very polished video because those tools are VERY expensive, and other outlets (like Vimeo.com) attract the more professional video types of people. It also takes a great deal of time to make a high-quality video. Let's just estimate that for every ten editors, maybe one has a decent camera, and for every ten with a decent camera, maybe one knows anything about shooting for video. You could keep dividing based on access to money for equipment, et cetera.

Now, that said, I have an idea. What if we created a place to:

  • Attract more video/audio contributors from outside the movement (like reach out to the YouTube & Vimeo crowds)
  • Divide and share tasks in a semi-organized workflow with a production queue, like a ticket system in programming. I would think that we could establish something that allows the maximum number of community members to get involved without having a camera, just a computer.

For the first part, we could make a video that we post to YouTube and Vimeo where we could read an open letter to the crowd of Vimeo and have a URL on the bottom of the video linking to our place for such collaboration. This way, we can attract professional video producers to help create content.

for the second part, Once we can establish a system to say what kinds of content should be created, then the community can make scripts for it, then established shooters can shoot the footage, and maybe we can upload it to vimeo to share (since .webm and .ogv is not easy to edit) and find editors to work on it and sound mixers to mix the sound, captioners to provide captions, etc.

You should message User:Nkansahrexford, User:Fuzheado, User:Ragesoss, User:Rock drum, User:Fabrice Florin. They all have some level of video production experience. I know a closed-captioner who donates his services to create subtitles for all my videos too.

Basically, video benefits when there is a producer, not just a 'one-man-band', because there are so many elements to it. It sounds like the kind of thing that could really scale if we could create some kind of group on Meta or something. Or maybe this would need it's own thematic organization? I like sharing tools, but networking is what makes video better, and I'd like to bring that idea to your presentation.

Thoughts?

Victor Grigas (talk) 23:11, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Victorgrigas: @.js: I like this idea, and actually was thinking about it just a few weeks ago. This is the 10th year of Wikimania, and I actually have some video interviews from 2005 in Frankfurt that I wanted to try to edit together before London. In order to collaborate on this, we'd have to have some idea of the story line we wanted to pursue, and also the shooting style we're looking for. BTW, if you haven't seen, this is the video creation project I started last year Wikipedia:WikiProject_Wiki_Makes_Video. -- Fuzheado | Talk 04:08, 9 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Andrew, this is a great start. I'd start with the 'suggest' section and go from there. I think we need a few people to get started with this. Who else have you met who might be interested?Victor Grigas (talk) 16:23, 9 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Victor & Fuzheado: thanks for your enthusiasm, that sounds all very good! Here in DE Volker Grassmuck just started a big project "Videos for Wikipedia articles" – perhaps a possible cooperation with you?! As you might have seen, I currently introduced WikiTV to the en.wiki and have started a list trying to find all the Wikipedians involved video projects that we already have/had: List of WikiTV & WikiVideo projects, if you know more please post them there. --BR, .js (talk) 13:44, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
a) For the Wikimania I've started the collaboration site wm2014:Videos - let's plan the productions all together there, OK?
b) For the general Wiki+video planning there should be one place to get ideas and planning together instead of a hundred places. I've heard and seen so many ideas and "I want to have"s on this matter – the question is that users get together and do it + that many more other Wikipedians get to see the results. --BR, .js (talk) 15:49, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Fakeflash edit

The article Fakeflash has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No statement of notability. Could not find any reliable sources other than the one already mentioned in the article. A google search returs that most of the results are blogs that claim it is in fact a Windows virus, not a Mac OS virus as the article claims.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Speedy deletion nomination of John O'Shay edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John O'Shay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Spark Energy edit

Hi. You had added material to the Spark Energy article and I have removed some of that material. There are two companies with the same common name: one is based in Scotland, the other based in the US. I view the primary topic as being the company that is based in Scotland, but the other company based in the US is listed on the NASDAQ. There has only been one article created and an article for deletion discussion is underway. There hasn't been an article created for the company that is based in the US. I had removed some content from the main article that related to the company based in the US; I put that material on the talk page. I had started a disambiguation page: Spark Energy (disambiguation). I am letting you know in case you were wanting to start an article on the US company, although I would note the disambiguation page itself has been nominated for speedy deletion. OR/Edit-warring edit

Your recent editing history at Shooting of Laquan McDonald shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

Globalisation of fashion edit

Many of us are actively seeking out unique trends outside of the US and Europe to ensure the articles on 2000s fashion and 2010s fashion are truly globalized. However, very little exists for 1990s fashion before 1998 due to the expense and rarity of internet access outside of the US. Locating global trends for the 70s, 80s and earlier is almost impossible because media perspectives on fashion were very Western centric in those days, and because accurate surviving sources in English are hard to find.

So leave the tag on until those sources are found. You don't have to only use internet sources, I would imagine that there are libraries or institutions around the globe who would have such information. Victor Grigas (talk) 22:08, 1 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Even if we were to find such library sources, it would still be futile to globalize fashions before 1990 because individual written articles (especially those written by outsiders) tend to present a skewed or outdated picture without independent documents to back them up. Since most 20th century fashions and trends originated in Europe and America, why not compromise and only globalize those eras for which sufficient evidence can be found, and for which there was widespread awareness of, and participation in, the said globalization movement (i.e. 1990s, 2000s and 2010s)?

A few comments (I appreciate your constructive conversation):
  • If you end your comments with four of these ~ then your signature will be automatically generated in your comments :)
  • Would you like to have this conversation on the talk page for one of the articles, where our discussion would perhaps be more conducive to public inquiry and further discussion? I'm ok with discussing here, just thought I'd share the thought.
  • I don't think it's futile to globalize fashions in one article. You could easily break up a decade about Fashion into "Western fashions", "South Asian fashions" and so forth. You don't need to do the research precisely either, you could find others who might know something about it to point in the right direction (people in the fashion industry, anthropologists, etc.)
  • Can you clarify what you mean by "individual written articles (especially those written by outsiders) tend to present a skewed or outdated picture without independent documents to back them up"? Who are "outsiders"?
  • You say "Since most 20th century fashions and trends originated in Europe and America" to this I say [citation needed]! Fashion is (from the Wikipedia article for fashion): "[...] a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers." and while I do understand that there are fashion leaders, fashion is not 100% global, there are regions that have their own styles. Are there not popular indigenous fashions of particular regions that evolve and are influenced over time? There are plenty of places that have been isolated from western influence (North Korea comes to mind).
Video about editing the Wikipedia page for the Kanchipuram sari
  • I'd like to make a suggestion. When I click on 1980s in fashion and then click on earlier decades, when I hit the 1920's the article is titled 1920s in Western fashion. Perhaps these articles simply need to be renamed to be more accurate? I would prefer that the articles for 1960s in fashion, etc. actually represent a global perspective, but failing that, perhaps they just need to be renamed?

Victor Grigas (talk) 04:13, 2 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Some very good points. The "outsiders" I refer to are foreigners writing about localised trends outside of their country e.g. a Brit or American writing about fashion in India, or a Daily Mail journalist's observations about 2010s fashion in North Korea. They can never fully understand the reasons and customs behind these ethnic fashions, and even in their own country their perspectives can be outdated or inaccurate (example: the views of some "experts" on the emerging punk subculture of the early 80s). Your final suggestion is an excellent one, and I have added a new section in Template:Historical clothing to reflect the beginning of globalization in fashion.

Peace & love -Ossie

Great! I'm glad we had a productive conversation. Is there anything I can do for you! Victor Grigas (talk) 22:29, 5 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I'm writing to inquire as to your reversion to the uncropped version of the photograph. Hi there,

Noticed this edit duplicates a whole lot of references. When using a reference more than once, you can just give it a name like with <ref name=newyorktimes>{{cite news|title=blah blah|date=... }}</ref> and then for all subsequent instances you can recall the same ref with simply <ref name=newyorktimes/>. aftermath of Conflicts of Interest of President-elect Donald Trump edit

Victor, came over to say I am willing to help with writing up some prose for the rescue of the post-AfD material on Trump's personal connections to various foreign countries, and incorporating the pieces into proper locations within larger articles (constitutionally-restricted emoluments-related stuff in presidency of donald trump article, stuff about patronage/nepotism concerns in the list of donald trump political appointments article, and so on per the afd and article-talkpage conversations).

I also, quite frankly, came over to give you a stern welcome-to-wikipedia talking-to, about how you need to be aware that people are topic-banned and site-banned from all of post-1932 united states politics, for WAY LESS than some of your recent actions. But reading your talkpage and userpage -- there are advantages to never archiving! -- it seems clear that you don't need a welcome-to-wikipedia, you need a thank-you-for-all-your-years-improving-wikipedia. Rather than notify you about arbcom sanctions (which I see somebody already did), or explain that some people might see your Trump-related contributions as attack-pages (again already done), I will just point out to you that there is a difference between *impeccably* sourced criticism, such as creating a page called IBM and the Holocaust in 2007,[6] and *adminz do not permit that nowadays* criticism, such as creating 'Fuck Trump' or similar BLP violations.[7] Once it *is* the title of a book, or a restaurant, or some similar encyclopedic topic beyond a crass t-shirt slogan (just $15 each! buy more save more!), may I suggest you let somebody else create the article? All this annoying and arguably-unwarranted caution is doubly-especially important, since you are a WMF person. Please please tread carefully, because although we both know that you act under your personal volition here on this username, it will indubitably be 'linked' to your WMF status, should there ever be an Epic Editing Scandal which blows up into the public eye. My friendly unsolicited advice, after which I shalt remain silent on the topic unless specifically asked: please BE SURE that there is never such a scandal involving yourself, even tangentially. Remember where the wikipedia webservers are, if nothing else.

On that grim note!... can you ask Sandstein, or whomever deleted the article, to restore it to your userspace temporarily, if you don't have an offline copy saved somewhere? We can start integrating the sources we have in the article-talkpage, to the appropriate places. I will try and put together a paragraph for the Presidency of Donald Trump article first, and then once that is in place we can start working on drafting material for the biographical article, which summarizes the personal connections to foreign countries (ancestry and personal friendships), the business connections to foreign countries (some of which are stronger than others and some of which are interconnected with ancestry-n-friendship ties), and the political connections to foreign countries (e.g. Nigel Farage of UKIP is an international political contact in much the same way that Sarah Palin is a within-the-country political contact). I don't expect this to happen very quickly, because I think it will take significant time and discussion to put the pieces together in a neutral way, that keeps our own noses clean and wikipedia's broader reputation sterling. But the work does need to be done... and for exactly those reasons, as a matter of fact. If you would like to start collecting URLs of sources, and dump them onto my usertalk page, I will start working on draft-language, and when we have something useful we can propose it on the talkpage of the relevant article(s). Let me know if there are any flaws in this wise and superbly impressive tactical plan.  ;-) Best, 47.222.203.135 (talk) 14:12, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'll say that your post here caused me to re-read all the messages on my talk page. Damn. I've got a lot of spaghetti I've thrown, and a lot of it stuck!
Anyway - I appreciate all the thinking you've done. Let me think about it some more. In the meantime, here's an archive of the deleted article from December 9:
(snipped per AfD outcome but thank you for the retrieval, I will see what I can do with the stuff, anybody else who is interested, please click edit on this section to view the html comment containing the AfD'd prose)

Yes your storied skills as a pasta-chef of the wiki-spaghetti variety is noted and appreciated  :-)
I'm still working on this project, and am looking for where it best ought to fit. There are a bunch of articles on Trump, but none of them are an exact fit, since this is a crossing-the-streams-of-business-and-politics subtopic. But making it standalone is also no good, because it would not properly contextualize the conflict-stuff within the larger scope of his business career (decades) and his presidency (per WP:CRYSTAL ball one term or possibly two), and if the press coverage of the Clinton family is any indication, I will go out on a limb and predict the post-presidency of the Trump family will continue to generate WP:RS talking about financial conflicts and ethical issues, too. But in the short-term, I think we probably need a paragraph at Presidency of Donald Trump, which points via Template:main to a subsection of Legal affairs of Donald Trump (which in turn points to the proper subsection of Trump.com which can then backpoint to the presidency article). Does that make sense, as a starting goal at least? 47.222.203.135 (talk) 11:34, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
There are some details about the quasi-blind-trust arrangement, which were announced at the press conf on January 11th. I've given a rough list of some of the key points at Talk:Donald_Trump#No_blind_trust, and participating in the placement and phrasing of that material, may help us figure out the broader goal of where to put the other conflict-refs that exist. 47.222.203.135 (talk) 11:53, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hey did this stuff get added anywhere? Victor Grigas (talk) 05:45, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
No, closed as WP:NOTFORUM  :-)
But as of yesterday I have permission to again re-open the conversation ;-)
This conflict-and-emolument-and-semi-blind-trust material *is* necessary stuff, but I suspect lots of good-faith wikipedians are feeling pressure right now as being members of an alleged 'fake news website' that purposely promotes Clinton and attacks Trump, so everybody is trying to make things neutral... which in many cases, means flat out fucking deleting *impeccably* well-sourced material as 'not really encyclopedic' or sometimes 'not relevant' with a weaponized form of WP:UNDUE. Completely misunderstanding what the trifecta's number one STAY NEUTRAL commandment actually means, obviously....
No worries, though, I am persistent. This will get figured out eventually. If you decide to WP:BEBOLD and pull some WP:IAR, or have a suggestion as to where I could pull some IAR, drop me a note on my talkpage please. Anons have no watchlist, so if I don't respond promptly it is because I forgot to come back and refresh the page, not because I don't care anymore :-) 47.222.203.135 (talk) 12:31, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Tiziana Cantone edit

Hello, Victorgrigas. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Tiziana Cantone, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

An update from the Sustainability Initiative edit

Thank you for supporting the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, Victorgrigas! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

What's new?

We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)

What's next?

Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

Please help!

Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:

  • Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
  • Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
  • Improve and translate the project page on Meta.

If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey und Gnom, 2 April 2017 —Preceding undated comment added 21:28, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Evil losers edit

Heh, first off, don't worry I'm not calling you one :P So, I've seen ya around doing great stuff and I thought this an opportunity to say hi, and pick your brain about something. So, I was kinda curious about your thinking with the "Evil losers" redirect. Now, I know that "redirects are cheap" but initially it kinda felt like a bit of a stretch. I'm not proposing it shouldn't be around or anything, just kinda wanted to get your thinking around it, if for nothing else, my own education. I mean, we certainly wouldn't have a snippet of Australia's comment redirect, "brutal attack". Although maybe that's an unfair comparison. Anywho, look forward to your feedback, and again, hi! Drewmutt (^ᴥ^) talk 04:01, 26 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi! So I was just reading the news about the attacks and heard the BBC quote this term then I googled it and it seems to have a bunch of sources all about that one quote, so I thought it would be appropriate to redirect the term (which as far as I can tell has not been used elsewhere) to the reactions section of the attack article. That was my thinking :) Victor Grigas (talk) 23:19, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

United States federal government shutdown of 2018–2019 edit

Your attempt at adding a video removed 23,000 bytes worth of content from the article. Please be more precise with your edits, or explain what you are trying to do on the talk page. Bradv🍁 18:04, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I commented on the talk page - basically I've been adding most of the illustrations on the article for the past week, before it was a main page article and just now I tried to get this video added --
Department of State press briefing with Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino about the effects of a possible of a shutdown on government function.

I added the video, and the timecode to play the video at a particular time was wrong, and I changed it twice to fix it (captions are more detailed but the thumbnail start time is less detailed in terms of timecode, and I didn't know that), then an admin reverted my edits entirely, and i pressed undo on that which created 2 sections of the 'pre-shutdown' on the article. I erased the extra section and thats what you saw. Sorry for the headache, I just want to keep things appropriately illustrated.

Template Removal on Bass Pro Shops Page edit

NOTE: I am proposing this removal request for FleishmanHillard on behalf of Bass Pro Shops. I am a paid editor and am aware of the COI guidelines. I am posting this message to request to remove the current maintenance template at the top of the page Bass Pro Shops page, which you placed in January 2017.

The first couple paragraphs of the History section could be seen as promotional, so I would argue to remove the entire second paragraph of the History section, and additionally revise the first paragraph to simply read: "Company founder John Morris founded Bass Pro Shops in 1971 after selling fishing equipment in a corner of his family's liquor store[1]." Thanks for your consideration!

Hi, I appreciate the message but I would argue that the article needs more work than just "to remove the entire second paragraph of the History section, and additionally revise the first paragraph to simply read: "Company founder John Morris founded Bass Pro Shops in 1971 after selling fishing equipment in a corner of his family's liquor store". For example, the section about the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum could use more references and it is phrased in a promotional way - "After nearly a decade of work" or "a multi-million dollar collection".

Proposed deletion of Never Again Action edit

Hello, Victorgrigas,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Nsk92 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Never Again Action, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

United Front propaganda content from the Chinese Communist Party edit

You do realize that the video you uploaded and linked in the 2019–20 Wuhan coronavirus outbreak article was produced by China News Service run by the United Front, which is a part of the propaganda operations of the Chinese Communist Party, don't you?

Yes, that's why I captioned it as made by China News Service. Victor Grigas (talk) 12:50, 25 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, If you look below, another editor helped to translate captions on a few videos on this topic. I just used Google translate to translate the captions on one into English. I put the video in the article about the timeline of the virus, if you want to add something to the caption on that, I'm writing now to advise that you now can. My opinion is that it's enough to say where the report came from, but you have a different opinion so I wanted to inform you. Victor Grigas (talk) 16:06, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

The Epps articles edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

Please see the instructions at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge to merge the history from Ray Epps to Raymond Epps. Thank you. Schazjmd (talk) 00:08, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

An article you recently created, Matas Grigonis, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Your draft article, Draft:Matas Grigonis edit

Hello, Victorgrigas. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Matas Grigonis".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 20:02, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

February 2023 edit

An article you recently created, Vytautas Kaniusonis, is not suitable as written to remain published. An article needs more information and citations from reliable, independent sources to remain in the mainspace. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline, has suitable content and thus is ready for mainspace, place {{subst:submit}} atop the article, then publish. Note that IMDb is not a reliable source. Silikonz💬 00:21, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Hassan Eslaiah edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hassan Eslaiah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Osarius 16:11, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
