WikiProject Industrial design (announcements) edit

  • NEW! The meaning of all this is that the 'startup' phase of the ID project is finished. The project now switches to its 'mature' phase. I encourage you to put your name in the todo page after one of the remaining   tasks. You can also aim to be Coordinator if you so desire. Thank you again and see you around, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 05:54, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Now that we are more than 5 supporters, I gather from the Wikipedia guidelines that we CAN proceed with the groundwork, for releasing the project and portal in the open soon. Wiki:pt edit

I have edited and then redacted a comment on the article 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. It happens that I was so madly infactuated to Ayrton Senna's career that every May 1st I get slightly delusional and forget what year we're really in (among other things). It's obvious we're not in 2005 to everyone else but me, my bad. Ed Mercer 16:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

hi edit

Hi. I found you in categories of users who can contribute in English and Portuguese. I myself am a native speaker of English, but I'm well on my way to learning Portuguese. Just check out my user page and talk page, and join in any of the discussions. To keep updated, you can even put a watch on my user page, which will automatically watch my talk page. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 21:32, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Industrial design and Design Portal edit

I recently posted the following text on Wikipedia regarding the creation of a new Visual arts/Technology-related project in Wikipedia:

WikiProject Industrial design is a Wikipedian community that aims to better organize information in articles related to Industrial design (also called Product design).

  • If I'm cor-rec-to, there are about 1850 articles on Industrial design in Wikipedia...
  • At least, it's more than for Typography, and there IS a Typography WikiProject...
  • And it's more than the Fashion WikiProject with 482 articles...
  • There is also an Urban studies and planning project and a Video games portal so...
  • Now you can also see a proposal for the Design Portal. (that portal would be for Industrial design AND Graphic design/Interior design)

Please support this initiative,

Hi again Ed; I did transfer your name from the proposal page to the Industrial design project. We are now in the process of launching this thing for good. Please contact me as soon as you can to discuss what you would like to do to help... --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 18:33, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi again Eduardo. I hope your health is now good. Schluum is working on the List of uncategorized articles and Intelligentsium on the Portal. Until we get our Cleanup listing and Project tags, I think the best you can do now is take a look at the New articles page: you have to check each article in the list and determine if it is really related to Industrial design as a category; if it is, you tag it with the most precise subcategory. By the way, could you please put these two tags in your talk page:
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Industrial design/Userbox}}
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject_Industrial design/Announcements}}
Muito obrigado, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 08:34, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Scope questions edit

This text is extracted from here. Please give it a thought as a member of WikiProject ID and put your ideas back there:

The first tagging operation of February 13, 2010 revealed some lingering scope questions that we want to discuss with each member of the project:

The question is... What do we do about that?

  1. We keep that situation 'as is'.
  2. We ask somebody else to possibly automate all the rest of it.
  3. We reselect some of those categories for automation (which ones?) and do the rest by hand on an article-by-article basis.

As always each solution has its advantages and inconvenients... So, team, what do you think?

Wikimedia Stories Project edit

Hello!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories from the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in São Paolo from the 1st - 2nd of March 2012, and I'll be attending:

http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Encontros/WikiSampa/WikiSampa_12

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. I apologize for any mis-translation in this message (perhaps it might inspire a laugh?) I am using Google-translate at the moment, but plan to have translators available when we are in Brazil.

Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Thank you,

Victor Grigas
