Clue 1-- people belonging to the clan in question can either be Hindu or Muslim, although traditionally we usually think the clan to be a Hindu one. no, not Nanda. Let me somewhat rephrase this. The clan I am talking about is not such a smal clan, it is indeed a large group of smaller clans. So, the "clan" in question actually is a larger and well-known term that comprises several smaller lesser-known clans, almost like a caste (indeed I am not sure what is the exact definition of such a large group of people, and did not find a universal term in my search).
