I am actually very new to quizzing , this is my first question so bear with me.

As far as I know, the current Persian and Arabic word for Indian is 'Hindi'. The Swahili word is 'mhindi'. I'll have to grant Chinese though. What I had in mind was Spanish, where the proper term for Asian Indian is Indio or Hindú (as opposed to Indiano for American Indians).. No Hydkat. I will explain my previous clue #1. The public meeting was held on Oct 11 1947 (not on Oct 2nd) which is Gandhiji's birthday according to Hindu calendar. I read about this gift and Patel's humour in a book "Making of a Nation" --Jprakash2002 00:36, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
