Interstellar Network News edit

Interstellar Network News has been prodded for deletion. 184.144.163.181 (talk) 05:41, 10 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

As much as I love Babylon 5, I think Interstellar Network News needs to be redirected to Babylon 5. Maybe we could merge a paragraph or so, but really, much of what's in the article is not exactly encyclopedic. Thoughts? --Fang Aili talk 20:36, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Maybe merge a bit to Earth (Babylon 5)--which is itself a redirect to a pretty terse entry in a list of locations which could use some more content. Jclemens (talk) 20:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've merged a bit to List of locations in Babylon 5, and wrote a bit more about Earth itself. I've been thinking about this more, and ISN is such a large part of the show.. there should be something of real-world significance to say about it. I just don't know how to go about finding it. (Or maybe I'm just having trouble letting go.) --Fang Aili talk 23:14, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Minbari Warrior Caste edit

Minbari Warrior Caste has been prodded for deletion. 184.144.163.181 (talk) 04:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've deprodded both articles. Not because they deserve to exist in their current form, but because merging or redirecting them is a better option. Does anyone else have the time to help merge these appropriately? Jclemens (talk) 07:27, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've merged Minbari Warrior Caste to Minbari. --Fang Aili talk 20:36, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Archiving edit

I've archived everything from 2010 and before. Hope no one minds. --Fang Aili talk 20:37, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dogato edit

I've redirected Dogato to Sharlin Class Warcruiser. See Talk:Dogato for my reasoning on this. Honestly I'm not sure Sharlin Class Warcruiser should even be its own article, but let's take one thing at a time. --Fang Aili talk 20:49, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's a good redirect. Should we consider merging every starship article into a List of Starships in Babylon 5 or something like that? Jclemens (talk) 20:55, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good idea. Lower-case "s", I think, though. (List of starships in Babylon 5). I would keep a few of the better-known ships separate, like Starfury and White Star (Babylon 5) and maybe Omega class destroyer. Omega class destroyer is a long article with real-world information, but I wonder if it isn't way too detailed for Wikipedia. Thoughts? Any others you'd like to keep separate? --Fang Aili talk 23:52, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think that writing the master article using summary style is probably the best way to go: for the ships that merit a real, detailed article, keep the article and just summarize it in the list article. For the ships that don't need a separate article, selectively merge into the list article. Jclemens (talk) 04:06, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah yes, of course. I can get started on it a bit later. --Fang Aili talk 20:41, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've started Wikipedia:WikiProject Babylon 5/List of starships in Babylon 5 to edit until it's ready for article space. I've organized it by "Ship types" and "Specific ships", and I've imported information from a few ships. I pared down the content from those articles so there were no sub-sub headers, though the text should be pared down yet more. What do you think so far? This is my first time creating a summary style article. --Fang Aili talk 00:18, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've added some more. I've also discovered more B5 ship articles that aren't in the template (various Omega class destroyer ships, listed at the bottom of the article.) --Fang Aili talk 00:50, 17 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jumpgate (Babylon 5) edit

Jumpgate (Babylon 5) has been prodded for deletion. 65.95.13.213 (talk) 04:17, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

24.242.228.233 (talk) 10:19, 20 May 2011 (UTC) I removed the deletion. The Jumpgate page is a part of the Babylon 5 WikiProject, it should stay unless all of the Babylon pages are deleted.Reply
It has now been sent to AfD for deletion, see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jumpgate_(Babylon_5). 65.95.13.213 (talk) 05:43, 21 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Episodes with the non-notable tag edit

I've noticed quite a few B5 episodes with the notability tag, for example, And the Sky Full of Stars, A Distant Star, There All the Honor Lies. Does anyone know what the notability requirements are these days? I tried to find something relevant at Wikipedia:Notability but found nothing pertaining to television episodes. I was under the impression that individual episodes were notable; I've never seen this questioned. Little help? --Fang Aili talk 19:33, 30 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Individual episodes which receive coverage in reliable secondary sources are notable. All Babylon 5 episodes have received such coverage, but the coverage is often not placed in the article. I have my B5 books (about half a dozen of them) packed away, but anyone else should be able to come up with the same books--look at Spoo for some of the books I used, for example. Jclemens (talk) 03:42, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok, so the general notability guidelines apply to episodes, and there's no specific television episode guideline? I don't have any B5 books, unfortunately. But there's plenty of work to go around. --Fang Aili talk 17:17, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notice - major edit/clean-up coming edit

This is to inform the members of this wikiproject that a major cleanup is coming for the article, Civilizations in Babylon 5. One week from this posting, a major culling of unreferenced and synthesis material will be removed, as the article has gone largely uncited and untouched for almost 5 years. Time to cowboy up and get a-citing, my fellow editors. :) - Jack Sebastian (talk) 20:13, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

You mean, you're asking for help citing things, right? Not that you're threatening to remove things that aren't cited without trying to figure out if they're citeable, right? Jclemens (talk) 03:09, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I am notifying those who "regularly" upkeep this WikiProject that plenty of work needs to be done in an area that has long grown neglected. You know me well enough by now to be aware that I don't just remove stuff without determining whether it needs to be cited or can be cited. The article is a mess, and its outside my usual patrol area, so those who know the Lurker's Guide backwards and forwards are better suited to doing some of the cite work.. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 09:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Leaflet for Wikiproject Babylon 5 at Wikimania 2014 edit

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal edit

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject X is live! edit

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Grants:IEG/Wikipedia likes Galactic Exploration for Posterity 2015 edit

Dear Fellow Wikipedians,

I JethroBT (WMF) suggested that I consult with fellow Wikipedians to get feedback and help to improve my idea about "As an unparalleled way to raise awareness of the Wikimedia projects, I propose to create a tremendous media opportunity presented by launching Wikipedia via space travel." This is similar to the episode where Babylon 5 crew have to decode a probe's message but it was a trap. My proposal does not include an exploding probe.

Please see the idea at meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Wikipedia_likes_Galactic_Exploration_for_Posterity_2015. Please post your suggestions on the talk page and please feel free to edit the idea and join the project.

Thank you for your time and attention in this matter. I appreciate it.

My best regards, Geraldshields11 (talk) 22:07, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Multiple B5 articles at AfD. edit

Not sure if anyone else is still reading this, but I need help sourcing multiple Babylon 5 articles at AfD:

I've added sources, trimmed excess in-universe content, and proposed that multiple elements be merged into larger list articles... yet multiple editors opine that the sources I'm using are inadequate:

 1.
 2.
 3.
 4.
 5.

Does anyone have any other sources, online or hard copy (more likely hard copy, as I'm pretty good at online source retrieval), beyond these which can be used to source these individual fictional elements? Jclemens (talk) 06:05, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

A new newsletter directory is out! edit

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.
