Scotland railway station stubs

Category:Scotland railway station stubs has 843 members, and only one subcategory (Category:Glasgow railway station stubs). Glasgow is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland; unlike England (which is divided into nine regions, each having its own stub category), Scotland has no level intermediate between the country and the council area. It would be impractical to subdivide Scotland railway station stubs 32 ways, and so I propose that further subcategories be created for just those council areas that have sufficient stations. For example, Category:Aberdeenshire railway station stubs would be valid because PetScan shows that there are 73 pages in Category:Railway stations in Aberdeenshire (or its subcats) that are stub articles; but Category:Falkirk (council area) railway station stubs would not because PetScan shows that there are just 14 pages in Category:Railway stations in Falkirk (council area) (or its subcats) that are stub articles. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:28, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Update: here are details of my proposals as they would apply to 31 of the 32 council areas, Glasgow already being dealt with.
1. Create stub template/stub category pairs for those council areas having more than 60 stations that are stubs - Category:Highland railway station stubs/{{Highland-railstation-stub}} (88), Category:Aberdeenshire railway station stubs/{{Aberdeenshire-railstation-stub}} (74), Category:Fife railway station stubs/{{Fife-railstation-stub}} (68), Category:Perth and Kinross railway station stubs/{{PerthKinross-railstation-stub}} (61).
2. Create stub template with upmerged categories for those council areas having between 30 and 60 stations that are stubs - {{Angus-railstation-stub}} (47), {{Borders-railstation-stub}} (47), {{Edinburgh-railstation-stub}} (47), {{DumfriesGalloway-railstation-stub}} (45), {{NorthLanarkshire-railstation-stub}} (44), {{SouthLanarkshire-railstation-stub}} (42), {{Moray-railstation-stub}} (38).
3. Leave with {{Scotland-railstation-stub}} for those council areas having fewer than 30 stations that are stubs - South Ayrshire (26), Midlothian (24), East Lothian (20), Renfrewshire (19), Falkirk (17), Stirling (17), West Dunbartonshire (14), Argyll and Bute (13), Dundee (13), East Ayrshire (13), West Lothian (13), Clackmannanshire (12), Inverclyde (8), East Dunbartonshire (7), East Renfrewshire (7), Aberdeen (4), North Ayrshire (1).
4. There are no railway stations in three council areas - Orkney, Outer Hebrides and Shetland, so no action is feasible. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 00:32, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

Automobile engines

Per scan, Category:Automotive part stubs has exactly 60 article overlap with Category:Automobile engines. However, I am unsure on what the naming should be. The two options for the category are (1) Automotive engine stubs, per the stub cat, or (2) Automobile engine stubs, per the main cat. However, for the template, {{Engine-aircraft-stub}} is formatted like that, which makes this even more of a headache... Should it be (1) Engine-automobile-stub, (2) Engine-automotive-stub, (3) Automobile-engine-stub, or (4) Automotive-engine-stub? If either of the latter two are preferred, should the aircraft one be adjusted? Curbon7 (talk) 08:30, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

Protosicence-stub

Protoscence is a category that can be expanded in Wikipedia, it could be of help creating protoscience stubs instead of deleting all new articles about protoscience just because they are "too small".--Alpha Lion (talk) 20:23, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

@Alpha Lion:, are you asking for help creating articles? You should go to Wikipedia:Article creation. Are you protesting the deletion of articles? You should go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. This project deals with the categorization and sorting of stub articles. Also, there is no Wikipedia category named "Protoscience", only one article titled "Protoscience", and an incorrectly formed stub category (Category:Protoscience stubs), which is empty and which will be proposed for deletion as unnecessary. Hume-geo-stub

I can already fill it with 20 pages (out of 35), that are currently tagged as stubs, of towns from just 2 of the 12 government areas in the Hume region. Out of the remaining 15, most are still only at a stub stage (only 3 sentences), but, for some reason, are not tagged as such. --ThylacineHunter (talk) 09:08, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

Category:Hume-geo-stub is both misnamed and misused. Misused because articles are placed in it using the markup [[Category:Hume-geo-stub]] - we never do this for stub categories. Misnamed because stub categories are spaced, not hyphenated; and are not normally abbreviated either. See for example

I will apply the correct tag of {{Hume-geo-stub}} and remove {{VictoriaAU-geo-stub}} and [[Category:Hume-geo-stub]] when the Hume-geo-stub is created. I only grouped them so I could easily find the 183 that need to be changed amongst the 783 in {{VictoriaAU-geo-stub}} ThylacineHunter (talk) 22:35, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

LatAm-comics-creator-stub

I counted 59 Brazilian and 9 Argentine comic book creators in categories Category:Comics creator stubs, Category:Comics artist stubs and Category:Comics writer stubs (there's many Argentines comics creators in "writer stubs", but I didn't count them). I would still have to check the other 11 countries in South America, but I think that is a quantity that justifies the template. Also, I'm creating new articles about Brazilian artists, so this number will increase soon. Lucio Luiz (talk) 14:47, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

I made a small modification in the proposal and changed it for all of Latin America, since there is already stubs for United States and Canada. Thus, the three Americas would be covered (and there are many Mexican artists in stub). Lucio Luiz (talk) 15:11, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Nigeria-women-bio-stub

Oppose; it's my understanding that on Wikipedia, biographies are not separated by gender (see WP:CATGENDER), and WPSS tends to follow that guideline. The rest of the Nigeria-bio stubs are sorted by profession or, in one case, geographic origin. I realize that the guidelines refer to article space, and if there's a WikiProject Nigeria, that project can use other means to identify articles needing improvement. I have no experience with WikiProjects other than WPSS, but someone at WP:NIGERIA might be interested in creating a task force/subgroup about Nigerian women, using an edited version of the Category:Stub-Class Nigeria articles templates to place articles in a separate project category. I suggest you ask the people at the Nigeria project about it, and I hope you find a solution. Her Pegship (?) 06:15, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

@Princess of Ara: Pegship is correct. A better subcategorization would be for {{Nigeria-politician-stub}} to be separated by gender, as it is more populated and the largest of the bio stub categories. Wylie pedia @ 01:57, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
even then, it is preferable for the sequence for {{country-politician-stub}} to be {{province-politician-stub}}. Curbon7 (talk) 05:07, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
@CAWylie: - A gender subcat of the politician stub category would still be inappropriate for the reasons I mentioned above. A by-province or by-party sub-cat would conform to stub guidelines and use, but not by gender. Her Pegship (?) 05:22, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
It should also be noted that Category:Nigerian women in politics and Category:Nigerian women by occupation also exist. Hopefully, that helps Princess of Ara somewhat. Wylie pedia @ 08:13, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Oppose When a bio stub category gets too large it may be subdivided in one or more of three ways: by century, decade or sometimes year of birth‎; by nationality‎; or by occupation‎. Since Nigerian people stubs is already a "by nationality‎" stub type, the possibility of subdividing by region or district also exists (see subcats of Category:Indian politician stubs), but there are still two further avenues to explore. A number of occupation subcategories exist, I don't see why more should not be created but women would not be among them. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:54, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
