In 21 months of existence, the creator's user page is still the only transclusion. I propose either substituting and deleting, or userfying. Bsherr (talk) 17:57, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

- Userify per Izno. --Tom (LT) (talk) 00:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Top icons work best when they convey a graphical message, usually about the status of a page. This template essentially functions as a link to Wikipedia:Directories and indexes. The description of the top icon reads "Part of Wikipedia's directories and indexes." I can't make out any category or pattern from the pages that transclude it and those that don't. (It's not, as one might assume, all the pages linked from Wikipedia:Directories and indexes.) Bottom line is I think it would be better to just include Wikipedia:Directories and indexes as a link in the see also section of these pages, as appropriate. Bsherr (talk) 17:46, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support. The editor who created this very much did not understand the problems created when you try to use multiple ways of categorizing something (in this case, categories, a directory listing, and a topicon). It's a fine icon, but the information it conveys should be in the page title/namespace for readers and in the category for any technical purposes. It's not useful when it's applied this inconsistently, so better to just get rid of it. @Bsherr: you may be interested in this related discussion. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 19:18, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Got no problem if this deleted. Old way to navigate manly only used by projects now a days. Last thing we need is more redirecting editors to other pages off the bat. ....that is a real.problem as of late.--Moxy 🍁 21:07, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was replace with Template:Simple horizontal timeline, either by redirecting the template or full-on-replacement as appropriate. Primefac (talk) 00:54, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Only some 5 uses in mainspace and the rest are in sandboxes in over a decade. That indicates this template is not and probably should not be used. Izno (talk) 16:21, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Redirect to Template:Simple horizontal timeline after reviewing transclusions for compatibility. Then I think we should swap Template:Simple horizontal timeline and Template:Horizontal timeline by page move. --Bsherr (talk) 17:18, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Huh? I do not understand the purpose of this template. It seems to duplicate the normal Wikiproject banner, serves no particular use on the pages that it's used, and consists of the main disclaimer "Please note that the assertion of this tag does not mean ownership. It's merely a way to direct users to the broader project. " - already duplicates existing infrastructure. I propose delete. Tom (LT) (talk) 04:38, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Delete as completely unneeded. WP banner should be sufficient in any situation. --Gonnym (talk) 11:27, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. This doesn't seem an appropriate or precedented use for a top icon. --Bsherr (talk) 17:27, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Used once, this is just a table. Could easily be substituted and plcaed directly in the article, making the content easier and more accessible for future editors Tom (LT) (talk) 04:23, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
