The result of the discussion was delete after converting the articles to use {{Taxonbar}} as discussed. ~ Rob13Talk 01:03, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Per the discussion at Template talk:TaxonIds, this template is redundant to {{taxonbar}}, and in many cases, both are being employed on the same page. To fix the duplication, I suggest we replace {{taxonIds}} with {{taxonbar}}. Of course, I don't suggest deleting this template until the migration is complete.   • Support migration/deletion. Note that TaxonIDs sometimes has links that aren't yet in Wikidata (and thus won't show up in taxonbar); the migration process should probably include getting these IDs into Wikidata (creating a maintenance category along the lines of Category:Encyclopedia of Life ID not in Wikidata might facilitate this).   • Support migration/deletion. There are about 7,075 transclusions of this template right now, though, so the migration sounds pretty painful, but it'd be great to have all that data safely in Wikidata. It looks like the fastest way there would be to (1) add {{WikidataCheck}} to identify data that Wikidata doesn't have yet (I tried this just now), (2) to put in a request at User:JJMC89 bot/Wikidata external link template parameter removal to automatically move the data over, and then (3) to delete all instances of this template. I'd love to put some time into this, but I'm completely swamped for the next couple of months --- but if it's not done by then, feel free to ping me and see if I have more time available then! -- Gaurav (talk) 19:45, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
