Template:Florida State Seminoles roster (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Appears to be the 2011 Florida State Seminoles football roster. That information only need to be presented in one place on Wikipedia, at 2011 Florida State Seminoles football team. There is another version of the roster table hard-coded there. This template should not exist. Jweiss11 (talk) 06:04, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Does not need to exist as a separate page in template space; the text and graphics should be directly incorporated into the "2011 Florida State Seminoles football team" article. We seem to encounter this kind of problem frequently in the sports projects—perhaps we need to train our wikiproject editors better. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 06:09, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:3-space symmetry groups (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

"This list is comparable to the 2-space groups, but very incomplete!" + typical "Unused, purpose unclear" Bulwersator (talk) 05:07, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't delete. I have been trying to list symmetry groups in Coxeter notation, including existing articles List of spherical symmetry groups and List of planar symmetry groups. This template is for the 3-dimensional space groups, along with another of 4-dimensional spherical symmetry groups, Template:3-sphere_symmetry_groups. I'm waiting on some sources, but I admit I probably won't be able to build the cross-referencing table I'm looking for from known sources for the space groups. I can move the template to a user page subpage if you'd like. Having them in a template is useful when I'm cross-referencing different tables on one page. Tom Ruen (talk) 07:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see no problem in waiting month or two - but it may be better to start template in usespace and move finished to template namespace. Bulwersator (talk) 21:51, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:El Camino College Athletic Hall of Fame (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

This navbox is for a junior college athletics hall of fame that doesn't even have its own article. Most of the people listed in the navbox don't seem to have articles about them either. Doesn't seem to be much if any third party coverage of this hall of fame either. I think we can do without this one. Jweiss11 (talk) 04:16, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The fact that the topic of the template is not likely notable to have its own article is reason enough. Every college (even a lot of high schools) have Halls of Fame. An article or section of a larger article (especially for small schools like junior colleges) is more than sufficient along with the alumni categories. --JonRidinger (talk) 04:39, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This navbox clearly violates at least three of the four navbox guidelines:
1. All articles within a template relate to a single, coherent subject. Yes.
2. The subject of the template should be mentioned in every article. No.
3. The articles should refer to each other, to a reasonable extent. No.
4. There should be a Wikipedia article on the subject of the template. No.

The article also violates another basic tenet of not utilizing significant amounts of unlinked text. By my quick count, there are something like 200 members of this Hall of Fame listed in the navbox. Eleven of the 200+ listed HOF members are actually linked to existing Wikipedia articles. This navbox does not even begin to satisfy this restriction.

Even more damning is the fact that the navbox's subject HOF probably fails both WP:GNG and WP:NSPORTS. In the case of sports HOFs, there is no presumption of notability, and it appears this one is probably not notable by any reasonable measure, including the underlying notability of the HOF's individual members. Delete, and move on. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:44, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete after moving to Ukraine–European Union relations#Popular support to EU integration of Ukraine in Ukraine. If there is desire to have the table in template form, for use in more than one article, the contents can be found there. • Keep but change. This indeed could be useful for many politics and foreign relations articles which we count in dozens I guess. The idea of templating the issue is unusual but viable. Ukrained (talk) 05:20, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
