April 22

edit

a case of serial time distortion

edit

I think this was a webcomic, but it could be any kind of serial. When the series was two or three years old, a character said, "Whew, what a long day – it felt like it went on for years!" ...and that's when I noticed that all the events up to that point were in one day of story-time.

Does this ring any bells? —Tamfang (talk) 07:34, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could it be Dead Winter (see sixth panel here) or perhaps FreakAngels? If it's neither of those, it's probably mentioned somewhere on this TV Tropes page. Deor (talk) 13:06, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I was thinking of Freefall; though it was not the first day, it took up two-thirds of the strips up to that point. —Tamfang (talk) 18:58, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What was his name, or wherefrom do I recall him ?

edit

Greetings, after quite some time. I was watching the first ever episode of the New Zealand made TV Police Drama Duggan, from 1997, and starring John Bach. Within the episode was a character whose name I have forgotten, but I am sure he is an actor I have seen somewhere before, and one knows the feeling when it bothers you if you cannot place someone like that. The actor resembles Timothy Dalton, and may be it is he or this is why I think I recognise him elsewhere. As the final credits rolled, they as usual went too quickly, and because I did not recall his character name I could not see who the actor was. In the episode, he plays Charles Mesure's character's uncle, this uncle being the husband of the initial murder victim, and who attempts to stick a loaded shotgun into his mouth before Duggan stops him. He sounds English, but with a slight Antipodean accent. I tried IMDB, but since they did not have Desmond Kelly, who was in the episode and played the second murder victim, I wonder if they left this actor out as well. The IMDB site on this Duggan episode has actors without photos, making it difficult to work it out. He could be the actor named Stephen Papps, but I will not know til Spartacus starts up again to see if it is him. Without a photo I am stuck. If anyone in New Zealand taped the episode, on Heartland 17 2AM TO 4AM Sat morning, and can tell me who that is, then thanks. Chris the Russian Christopher Lilly 09:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've already found it, but in case it helps anyone else, the episode was "Death in Paradise". Adam Bishop (talk) 11:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that, but even knowing this, having looked it up on IMDB since I remembered the name of the title of this first ever movie length episode, I am still not sure whether the actor I am seeking is named in those credits on IMDB or whether they left him out as they did Desmond Kelly. The actor looks so familiar but as yet I cannot place him. Thanks. Chris the Russian Christopher Lilly 04:45, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think the person you're looking for is William Brandt. See here Anyway, you can watch a portion of the episode here and its full credit sequence.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 05:04, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for that, but I can see by the photo this is not the actor I saw. Having looked on the NZ On Screen site for the credits I see the actor Peter Vere Jones could resemble him, but I think he played a different character. I might have to try playing the episode by bringing in my earphones as the volume is turned down on these computers at Uni to not disturb others. Thanks. I am sure this man is not a Kiwi, but may live here, or he is but has been in something British. Thanks. Chris the Russian Christopher Lilly 07:28, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Song ID

edit

Which rock song is playing here from 03:33 to 03:54? Thanks. 176.241.247.17 (talk) 16:33, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might be "Get Out of My Face" by Saving Abel. I searched for the one line that I could make out which was "get out of my face" and this was the top result. The song on YouTube sounds a bit like the song from your video. Dismas|(talk) 01:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, not that. 176.241.247.17 (talk) 14:40, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
