About Chernabog

I have a question about a an appearance I saw with Chernabog. There's a webiste called That fellow in the coat - which by the way seems very much like That Guy with the Glasses. On this link, they have a top ten with The Top 10 Scariest Animated Monsters, and on spot 8 is Chernabog. Anyway, about 4:30 in the movie, there's a part where Chernabog appears with Mickey Mouse and Michael Eisner. I believe it's an intro clip from an episode of either The Disney Sunday Movie or The Magical World of Disney, the late 1980s-early 1990s variant of the long-running Disney anthology series. During Eisner's tenure at Disney, he would film short introductory sequences for whatever was being presented that episode, much like Walt Disney himself did during the early days of the program. American TV show recommendation for adult ESL students?

I haven't watched American TV in nearly 6 years, so I'm a little behind the times. Can someone recommend an American TV show to be shown to and discussed by adult ESL students? Some additional requirements:

no nudity
as little violence as possible
including office culture/scenes, if possible

Most any American sitcom from the last few decades of broadcast television would qualify. Consider looking for DVD copies of the shows, as some might have English subtitles specifically for ESL students and households. Given the criteria of an office setting, The Office might well be a good choice, as would The Drew Carey Show, Murphy Brown or Spin City. --McDoob AU 93 22:04, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

auds of tv station idea succeeding

Dear wikipedia, me again, I typed up an idea for a tv station for Shaw Direct, with cartoons on it such as What's with Andy, Kids Next Door, Life and Times of Juniper Lee, Kim Possible... basicly missed cartoons from the 2000s. what are the auds of its success in actualy coming into existence? Do you mean "odds", as in the odds on a racehorse winning? Well, if the idea is not submitted to a commissioning body, then I'd say the odds were that the idea would not succeed! If you do submit it, then they can either say yes or no, making a 50% chance of success. You can pitch the idea to someone, but nothing will happen. What you need to do is contact the producers of the shows. For example, "Life and Times of Juniper Lee" is controlled by Cartoon Network. "Kim Possible" is controlled by Disney. They will give you a price that you have to pay to have the shows on your channel. They may have restrictions, ie: Disney may say that you can't have any of their shows if you show some other show that they don't like. Once you have a lineup, you need to get advertising dollars. So, you have to hit up every company you can think of to see if they will commit to advertising. Then, you have money committed from advertising and shows committed from the producers. You have to go to all the distribution companies like Shaw Direct and ask them to add your channel to their lineup. If they agree, you can go live. As you can see, that is a lot of work filled with a lot of sales negotiations and legal work. So, pitching this idea to someone and hoping they do all the work won't amount to anything being done. -- kainaw ™ 14:20, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we need any more channels like this. Between TVO, CBC, TFO, YTV, Treehouse, Playhouse Disney, PBS, Teletoon, Teletoon Retro, and even BBC Kids Canada, and presumably others I have forgotten (although some are only available on Rogers digital cable), you can get almost any kid's show. Kim Possible is certainly on every day already, isn't it on Teletoon? I'm pretty sure What's With Andy is on somewhere too. Adam Bishop (talk) 23:19, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Teletoon doesn't play kim possible, that was family, but not anymore. Teletoon decided to do the most idiodic thing: take what's with andy off the air. If any teletoon workers sees this, i hope their concience tells them to act smart, and put it on the air at a reasonable time again. I'd do anything to watch some episodes in english again. Youtube and other sights have them in dutch, romanian and something else, which i don't understand. I just searched for Kim Possible, it's on youtube, but i can't find what's with andy in english. Please help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Help me whether you can force teletoon to come back to their senses, or whether you can somehow help me watch an episode on youtube or something. Downloading sights are just not compadible with my PC, so just a video sight like youtube would due nicely. The Strauss Family

Can you pls tell me the piece that is used as the the theme in the beginning of "The Strauss Family". This is a BBC TV mini series that is available on DVD. (after edit conflict): The series' music was arranged and conducted by Cyril Ornadel. The soundtrack double album The Strauss Family: Original Television Mini-Series Soundtrack has a list of titles, but doesn't include "theme music" or anything like that. Answers.com says the theme music was borrowed from the Finale (Act I) in Eine Nacht in Venedig, in particular "Komm nur liebes Kind" (free, sampled snippet available on this amazon link) and "Mit der Würde" (snippet not available). I couldn't find any sources confirming this (or any other information on the series' theme music). I couldn't listen to the theme music anywhere either. Baseball Substitution Rules

Suppose we have a team with Abel, Baker, Charles, Daniel, Edward, Frank, George, Hooker, and Irwin batting in that order. Abel is up, and the manager would vastly prefer to have Charles bat next instead of Baker. Is it possible for him to substitute Charles for Baker and some tenth player Jones for Charles in the batting order? - Indeed. If Charles bats after Abel (it happens sometimes, though almost never in the majors, as an accident), then Baker is ruled out. As soon as Charles steps in the batters box, Baker is ruled to have forfeited his turn at bat, and is automatically out. I only know this because, as the backup catcher on my church's slow-pitch softball team, I was also the default scorekeeper, and once noticed that a team did this. When I querried the ump on what happens when a player is skipped (the opponents did this quite innocently, in the relaxed atmosphere of the game, they simply lost track of the batting order), he called the skipped player "out". --Jayron32 05:09, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to WhoSampled, the sample is spoken by Gene Roddenberry, from his 1976 LP The Star Trek Dream. [1]. I think the guy lip-synching the words at the beginning of the clip is Mark Moore. In any event it is not Gene Roddenberry. ---Sluzzelin talk 20:42, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
