NBC Medium episode edit

There was an episode of Medium that I need. It had a cold opening in which there was a video montage of scenes from a normal morning wakeup for a mother that would get dressed, cool breakfast for her children, and drive them to school in her SUV. When they were in the garage and she turned the car key for the ignition it switched to a quiet low angle shot from outside and the garage exploded in huge flames. Which episode was this? Thank you! I would very much appreciate if anyone could help me figure out which episode this was. Mac Davis (talk) 01:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried Hulu or other similar services? --Jayron32.talk.contribs 02:10, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bootmakers to Kings edit

In The_Good_Shepherd_(film), Fredericks mentions "bootmakers to kings" before he is killed. What's he talking about? Black Carrot (talk) 02:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen the film, but this review implies that the phrase is used to refer to underlings who have no real authority but act at the whim of those who wield power. Apparently, it's repeated elsewhere in the film, so that its use by Fredericks would be a reference to the previous use or uses. Deor (talk) 13:48, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A standard in pornographic movies edit

Why is it that, in pornographic movies, the straight scenes invariably end with the man ejaculating on the woman's face and/or into her open mouth? How did this become standard? (or is this standard only in American porn? I have seen Japanese porn in which the women were treated much more respectfully, and the scenes did not end in this way.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.35.186.173 (talk) 07:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can still find some that are this way but the older standard was to have the man pull out and ejaculate on the woman's pubic hair/stomach/thigh/etc. It is basically the finale of the scene. It's called the "money shot" after all. It has to happen otherwise it was just some thrusting that took place on screen. People want to see that something actually happened and the ejaculation is the way that this is presented. As time went on, the sex acts in the movies got more and more... extreme, for lack of a better word. Anal used to be rare and now it's rather common-place. The cum shot follows this logic. The location got more extreme. It moved up the body to the face/mouth. Additionally, having the guy cum on the woman's face or in her mouth, has a psychological effect (no, I don't have a source... Playboy, maybe?) in that it shows that the woman wants him and his cum so much that she wants it on her face or in her mouth and not just down around her genitals somewhere. Another example of this is that in the older movies the ejaculate was hardly ever touched by the woman and now it's not uncommon to see women "play" with it by getting their fingers in it or by having a second woman lick it off the first woman. For more details see cum shot, which I can't access from work. I would also suggest that there may be a misogynistic aspect to the increasing prevalence of the cum shot, involving some desire for humiliation. As for Japanese porn, presumably you've never seen bukkake (another NSFW link). --Richardrj talk email 10:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would posit that this phenomenon is not particular to straight porn: in gay porn, but not excluding other categories, facials are common as well. Although some people would argue that they are not that common, I would suspect that the risk of STI is higher among gays, or men who have sex with other men. Notwithstanding, it is possible that straight porn models have the same statistics of disease as gay porn models, although I haven't done any research in that area.
I believe another reason the Money Shot exists is because it is because it actually more erotic to see it. From a gay point of view anyhow. Also, if the man ejaculated in the bottom (both female and male), you could not definitively verify if the man truly ejaculated or not. He could be acting. And frankly, if your acting, that's not that real and it doesn't get you off. And if your acting, it's spoiling the movie, and it's a turn off.68.148.149.184 (talk) 23:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, like every time I have sex, I pull out so that I can cum on the woman's face. If anything, it looks less realistic to have the man pull out and cum on her face. To me, it looks like the man is "marking his territory" more than anything else. It's clearly not for the woman's pleasure, and even strictly in terms of the man's pleasure, why would he want to pull out of such a warm, inviting spot in order to cum? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.27.151.91 (talk) 00:53, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, I can't answer that question. Your straight, I'm gay, LOLOLOL.68.148.149.184 (talk) 05:36, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If that is the part about porn that makes you think it's unrealistic, I guess you're used to having really artificial-looking sex. =) -- Captain Disdain (talk) 07:11, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can we move his to the humanities desk? Lanfear's Bane | t 13:48, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What for? It's obviously an entertainment question. --Anon, 15:31 UTC, May 5, 2009.
What was the title of the porno you were watching? If it was something like "Egg Beaters Always Cum In A Dozen" then the first guy was cumming on her face to leave room for the next eleven guys in line. It's called "extending a coitesy".
I've noticed there is also not as much male porn stars kissing female porn stars on the mouth anymore. Porn studs kissing labia? Sure! But not on the mouth. I guess they know where her dirty mouth has been. Orbit gum, anyone?
I don't think this is any better classified as "humanities", but if we could get a desk in here with a naughty secretary spread-eagle and a sign that says "HUMMANITIES DEPARTMENT", then that is where we should all stick our stuff. AnonymousHornyDog (talk) 16:33, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kiss (band) edit

The costumes in the band Kiss, are the spikes actually metal, and has anyone gotten hurt from them? 65.121.141.34 (talk) 19:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. They are metal (likely aluminum). I have never heard of any record of serious injury from the costumes. I'm sure they caused minor irritations. I remember recently seeing Gene Simmons on some reality show where he put his costume back on and complained about the weight of it and how sore he would be the following day. -- kainaw 19:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Villain from a Wolverine comic edit

I used to have a Wolverine comic book a while ago. It took place in a very snowy environment (Alaska, I think) and it had Wolverine fighting a vampire-like bad guy. I've been trying to find that guy's name but I can't figure it out. His skin was all white, he had long white hair and sunglasses and his jaw would extend all the way down to his knees and he'd have hundreds of big sharp teeth. Very creepy dude. At the end of the comic, Wolverine killed him by cutting him down on a motorcycle with a samurai-esque sword. I'd appreciate any help. TravisAF (talk) 23:37, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A few possibilities: Morbius, the Living Vampire and Batwing both seem to be Spider-man villains, but could have easily crossed to a Wolverine comic. Brickbat once fought Colossus. Wikipedia also has an article featuring known vampires in the Marvel universe, so if I have not stumbled across it, you might have better luck through that link. Taggart.BBS (talk) 01:32, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I found it. It was Bloodscream. That guy gave me nightmares when I was a kid. Thanks for your help. TravisAF (talk) 01:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
