Proxies

Does anyone know any good proxies where i can get on myspace and aim with no problem? And it has javascript,flashplayer,etc. so ill be able to play videos on it like youtube,veoh,etc. thanks. Neon6419 (talk) 02:49, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Alyssa Milano doppelganger

I saw in the video for Hang On Now a girl who looks like an older version of Alyssa Milano. The girl couldn't sleep. So she wakes up, turns on her TV set, and sees an animation of Limahl in action. She's also in some of the action with him and the rest of Kajagoogoo. Later, she feels better, turns off her TV set, and climbs back into bed. Who is the mystery girl? Athletes stripped of their Olympic medals

Sometimes -- especially nowadays with the steroids scandals -- you hear of Olympians and other athletes being stripped of their awards / titles / records / medals. I believe that this happened to Marion Jones very recently, as well. Anyways, it made me think of some questions. For sake of this discussion, let's just assume we are talking about Olympic medals.

• When the Gold Medal winner is stripped of his medal, am I correct to assume that the Silver winner gets bumped up to Gold, the Bronze winner gets bumped up to Silver, and the 4th place guy gets bumped up to Bronze? Is that what happens ... or is there more to it all?

• Physically, do they (Olympic officials, I guess) want to get the Gold Medal back? Do they request it? Do they demand it? Do they take legal action to recover it? Or do they just let the stripped athlete keep it?

• Physically, do they go out and find the Silver, Bronze, and 4th place winner -- and give them a real, physical medal upgrade award? If so, is there any pomp or ceremony ... or do they basically just throw it in the mail? And will they "make" the Silver winner physically give up the Silver Medal, in exchange for the Gold? (etc.)

Ultimately, these questions boil down to: is the stripping of award medals and the re-awarding of upgraded standing medals all just put down on "paper" in the official records and books --- or do they also actually retreive/distribute the award medals physically?

And, by the way, how would they --- many years later --- actually get new award medals produced? I assume the die, casts, etc. are long gone from when the original medals were struck ... no?

I don't know about the physical medals, but the second, third, and fourth places are bumped up. This causes further problems when they are also suspected of doping, as I think is the case with the silver medalist who would get Jones' gold... Adam Bishop (talk) 16:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

It's not an automatic thing though. Marion Jones has been stripped of her Gold medal (the honour, at least, if not the actual medallion), but I'm sure I read that the IOC or whoever will be meeting to decide on whether to promote the Silver and Bronze winners of her events to Gold and Silver respectively, and the 4th place-getters to Bronze. This must mean that sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I guess every case and every event has to be looked at in light of the particular circumstances. -- JackofOz (talk) 12:04, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Can you identify this song?

I've got a little bit of a song stuck in my head, and I can't remember enough of it to Google it. I think it was out when I was little, so some time in the 80's. I remember a male vocalist, and some lyrics along the lines of "Hey (boy's name) what do you see? Hey hey (boy's name)"- but I can't remember what boy's name it was. Alright, Wikipedians, let's settle this thing once and for all. Does anyone have an insight, authorized or un-, about the little robot from Wall•E being a stylized version of a Short Circuit robot? No, it doesn't, at least not for controlling the player with keyboard and mouse like you would if you were playing Orange Box on the PC. That's why companies have had to make weird controller/mouse hybrids like this. Recury (talk) 20:14, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
