Summary edit

The Wikipedia Kolkata meetup is a monthly get-together of wikipedians (contributors and users) to meet, discuss, share experiences, reach out and advocate for Wikipedia and wikimedia. The meetups are projected to be arranged as follows —Introductions, a few focused talks by Wikipedians to share experience / expertise followed by demos and open discussions on topics of common interest. Pre-Meeting discussions can be on the talk page.

Intended audience edit

Anyone who has contributed or is willing to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects. Members of all Wikimedia projects and Wikipedians from all languages.

Agenda edit

  • Stand up meeting (based on Scrum) 10 minutes
Each member will get 1-2 minutes to share the following status updates
1. What did I do after the last meetup till this meetup?
2. What am I planning to do after this meetup till next meetup?
3. What problems am I facing?
  • Announcements 10 minutes
1. Program calendar
2. Query page for community
3. Timing & venue for next meetups
  • Discussion on WCI 2016 10 minutes
1. Is there any help that the community can offer to participants?
2. Participants can briefly share their plan.
  • Discussion on SOW 30 minutes
1. Identifying common topics (subject matter) that we can work on as a team
2. Identifying timelines & PICs to lead those activities
  • Tutorial 30 minutes
1. How to use Commonist to upload and categorize photos? (Sukanta)
2. How to rename files in Commons? (Santanu)
3. How to upload non-free images? (Kalyan)
  • Editathon/Hands on 30 minutes
1. Punjab Editathon (Mourya & Ananya)
2. Edit other topics & Wikimedia sister projects
3. Clarify doubts by working in pairs

  3. Date and Time for Meet Up 2nd Saturday of every month from 3:00PM to 6:00 PM.Community is going to reserve the slot at Academy of Fine Arts Upto Mar'17
  4. Tapas Deb asked for common Queries relevant to edit and any other issues.Kalyan Sarkar suggested to open an account in Stackexchange.com
  5. Regarding the Wikiconference participation,there was a discussion about the procedure for supporting a Volunteer. The volunteer will raise the issue in community Village Pump along with the clear idea of participation and how the community will be benefited through the participation-By 17th July, the community members will vote for acceptance or rejection of the process.Approval of full/partial amount at actual basis will also be decided in the same procedure.
  6. Community members can request to Sumita Roy Dutta for any lightning talk in WCI2016
  7. Focus on West Bengal:Present members suggested about articles covering following topics.Ananya Mondal Suggested to open a page to write down the West Bengal Related Articles. Members present in the meet up took responsibilities of listing the topics. Any other members can also add in the list.
