Code Geass flags

Hi, I'd like to kindly ask you if you can please improve these flags of two fictional countries from the anime Code Geass? Both need to be improved but in different ways. The first one is the flag of the Holy Britannian Empire, it should made into an SVG file. In addition, the entire coat of arms on the SVG flag should also be uploaded as a separate file so it can replace a similar PNG file used on Korean Wikipedia on a page about the fictional country. The other one is the flag of the Chinese Federation, this one is already an SVG but there is a problem on the bottom and left sides of the flag in that a notable portion of them are transparent. If possible, try to fill in the color and also keep the file the same pixel size and if it isn't already, make sure the emblem on the flag in in the exact center of the flag. I see you also made improvements to the Holy Britannian Empire flag. All these things are all very welcome but as explicitly stated by HapHaxion, the request is only half done. While the second part of my request is done, the first part isn't. I'm more than willing to wait longer but this section would get "archived" (i.e. removed from the "Illustration workshop" page) meaning that the request would not get done. Therefore, I must act now to make sure it isn't forgotten. For a second time, I kindly ask for someone (it doesn't have to be HapHaxion) if they can please make a Holy Britannian Empire flag in SVG format and also upload the SVG coat of arms from the flag as a separate file? Flag of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On the new flag of the President, instead of the coat of arms of Uzbekistan, there is a new emblem

Request: Draw from scratch the flag of the President of Uzbekistan, which was introduced just a few days ago. Google about the flag of the President of Uzbekistan. There's news there (mostly in Russian). Before that, the president of this country did not have a flag. There is not a single complete "sketch" of this flag on the Internet yet. Therefore, the master will have to watch them using indirect frames from the video of the recent presidential inauguration and photo report. For my part, I provide links where this flag flashes. Here is the full video from the recent inauguration (minutes 2:50, 1:32:26). Here (photo number 6 mer on the left this emblem) is the same emblem on the flag. International vehicle registration ovals

Request

We currently only have a handful of these international registration ovals (examples provided above), but under international law all drivers must use them when driving in a country other than their own. I'm hoping someone that is good with text rendering would be willing to create ovals based on the codes listed on International vehicle registration code (which I have verified to the best of my abilities at this time). I would suggest leaving the ones that already exist on Commons alone, and create a completely new set of ovals using a single uniform sans-serif typeface. The codes currently in use are most important. The only historical code I would suggest doing right now is GB, since it was only changed to UK this year. 'Find sources' template icons

Template(s): The {{findsources}} template helps editors find reference material by generating topic search links. The template currently appears at the top of more than a million Wikipedia talk pages.

The template was recently updated to generate category-specific links for medical (example below) and video game topics. Additional categories will follow.

Find medical sources: Source guidelines · PubMed · Cochrane · DOAJ · Gale · OpenMD · ScienceDirect · Springer · Trip · Wiley · TWL

Each of the templates would benefit from a left-aligned icon that conveys the function (search/research) and the category (medical, video games, and general).

Request: We're looking for three icons to be created in a common style, each with two graphical elements: One of the elements would be the same across all three icons (possibly a magnifying glass or a book) and the other element unique to each category (medical, video games, and general).

Standard element

The standard element that appears in the same position across categories might be:

A magnifying glass (indicating search) in the lower third foreground (with large category-specific icons in the backgroud).
An open book (indicating research) in the background (with smaller subject-specific icons in the top third)

Category-specific element:

The category-specific elements could be:

Medical: rod of Asclepius or star of life
General: open book or globe An existing illustration on Commons works well but it would be great if it could be done in the same style as the others.
Video games: video game controller

Example

A great example of the magnifying glass layout with a modern style can be generated on Icons8: Preview the video game controller icon, select 'Overlay', and then select the magnifying glass.

Received these icons back. They're not as sharp or detailed as the prior set but I think they might work well at the scale that they'll primarily be viewed and pop a little against the yellow talk header background.

Wikipedia's graphics identity standards overall are a mess, so it's kinda hard to say whether it's worth going with the more standard skeuomorphic ones or the more small scale–friendly flat ones. I'm not entirely sure whether we need separate icons for different searches in the first place, but I guess it might help make it clearer at a glance. {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 06:56, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikmoz, your icons are not bad; here's how they look at 36px:

@Wikmoz:, besides border color, there's another approach that can be effective in indicating overlapping image elements, as occurs here. This is an "eclipse gap" (my term; I don't know what this is really called, or if there's even a word for it). What I'm talking about, is a very thin white border used to show what it is front of what: this is illustrated in the way that some wordless signage uses stick figures or simplified anthropomorphic icons to indicate a person walking running, or diapering a baby, or whatever; and when one leg is in front of the other, the way they show that is to add a thin border matching background color (usually white) around the foreground element, to show that it's in front of the background element. Here are a few examples. The gaps don't show up well at 36px, so they would probably have to be widened a bit, click the images if you can't see them at this resolution. Also, have you considered just using the rod instead of the star? Most of the rods have a tall, skinny aspect ratio and aren't suitable, but this one could work. This is the same one used in WikiProject Medicine, and might work as an icon with a magnifying glass partially occluding it, whereas the tall, skinny ones wouldn't. Request: I would like to request a new version of the image in the gallery with less color and visual effects to improved visibility. I find the dotted lines appear to produce "ears" on the waveforms that are distracting, and they are generally too "bright". Captions would also be very useful. The non-free image is similar in nature but seems much more easy on the eyes and is labeled on the left. It also includes a third standard, RLL, which is also lacking on the commons (as far as I can see). Ideally I think it should be available as several images - each one of the three encodings separate, another comparing FM and MFM (as in the current commons version), and another showing all three as in the non-free. Interesting question... I guess as its the underlying timing that we see in the colored lines (in both images), and those don't change because that's a function of the media itself, then it makes sense to have the MFM and RLL ones be "shorter" as they do indeed use fewer cycles. Ancient Greek inscription of an Umayyad Caliph (ca. 663 AD)

A Greek inscription crediting the Umayyad caliph Mu'awiya I for restoring a bathhouse, inscription preceded by a Christian cross.

Request: After inquiring about the permissibility of the above image at Commons:Village pump/Copyright, it has been so far determined that the status of the actual photograph is still uncertain but the inscription itself is permissible per PD-Old. It is a unique inscription, the only time the Caliph is mentioned in Greek and the only epigraphic evidence of his rule in his home region, the Levant, in general. The article has passed its FAC and is set for Main Page appearance soon, on 12 January 2022. I was hoping the inscription could be redrawn here before the Main Page appearance.
