Continuing the cricket offensive on FLC, I'd like to nominate List of international cricket five-wicket hauls by Chaminda Vaas for consideration. I've been taking my time with this, but I think the article meets the standards and is ready to be reviewed.   • In "As a left arm fast bowler, he was accurate and particularly skilled in bowling both swing and reverse swing", no need for three refs; two of them from the same publisher.

  • Usually in these types of lists, we present information in the chronological order. In this case he made his ODI debut before his Test.
  • Normally I'd agree, but in this case I think the first fifer should take precedence over debut as that is the focus of the article after all. His first fifer was in Tests, and that's why I've placed Tests above ODIs in both the tables and lead. I think it would look strange to mention an ODI fifer in 2000 and then go way back to 1995 to talk about his first Test fifer.

  • Hyphens in refs. should be replaced by dashes.
  • Done. I think the rest used in compound modifiers are ok with MOS:HYPHEN.
  • Remove the "Cricket in Sri Lanka" template as it doesn't link to the page.

  • I don't think the No. column needs sortability. You can sort it using the Date column.

  • While sorting the date column in the descending order, entries for the same match doesn't sort correctly.
  • Fixed. This actually came up in a previous list I did. Should have looked out for it.
  • Secondary sort needed for wkts column.
  • What do you mean? It's currently sorted by number of wickets and then by runs conceded using a sort template.

  • Can you please change the caption since this is already covered in the prose?
  • This fact is already mentioned in the lead, you can say that "Vaas took four of his Test five-wicket hauls against New Zealand" or "Vaas took four of his five-wicket hauls at the SSC" or something else. Zia Khan
  • Yes, but what is the reason you want me to do that? AFAIK it doesn't say in the MOS or any other guideline that a fact already present in the article should not be used, or that an entirely new fact should be introduced in the caption. I believe the current caption satisfies the conditions in WP:CAPTION and focuses on one of the most notable points in the article. Even this FL you gave below as an example to another point uses a caption exactly like this one, as do a number of others including 1, 2 and 3. Chamal T•C 11:14, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • He repeated the feat in New Zealand's second innings,... → He repeated the feat in the second innings of the match,...?
  • Second innings of the match would be New Zealand's first innings and not New Zealand's second (SL batted first), so that would be incorrect. Also I think it may be confusing to a non-cricket-savvy reader if it just said fourth innings straight away, so I thought it's best to be clear and wrote it as "New Zealand's second innings".
  • It is also the second-best bowling performance.... could you mention who is at first place?

  • Per MOS:NUM, when comparing two numbers they should be in the same format, so "with 12 in Tests and four in One Day Internationals" should be either 12 and 4 or twelve and four.
  • Cricinfo and CricketArchive both list him as a fast-medium, and given that has a distinct meaning from fast bowler, I would change "As a left arm fast bowler, he was accurate.." to "As a left-arm fast-medium bowler, he was accurate.."
  • Minor point, but I would prefer a comma the number in "..accumulated 1155 Test wickets.." (making it 1,155) but it's only a personal preference really, so I'll leave it up to you.
  • "..the highest number of wickets he had taken in a single match." Should be "has" not "had".

  • Probably missed this on many (including my own), but "Less than 40 bowlers .." should be "Fewer than 40...."!

  • " a few months later " -> seven months.
  • "and leading " -> "and led".
  • "He had taken another" ->"He took another..." or "He went on to take another..."
  • Actually those sentences are talking about the fifer he took in the 1st innings (which happened earlier), while his best figures (which are dicussed earlier but happened later) were in the 3rd innings. That's why I used "had taken". Chamal T•C 15:20, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not sure why you have the ground before the opposition in the tables? The ground seems less significant to me.
  • I arranged the table like that because that's the format used in all the other lists on fifers. If I had to guess I'd say this is because some bowlers seem to have performed very successfully at one particular ground.
