File:Kodrah Kristang logo.png

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Request reason:

Hello! I am Kevin Martens Wong, and I am neither a sockpuppet account of Ng Yi-Sheng nor a meatpuppet of Ng Yi-Sheng. Both of us are writers based in Singapore and are not the same person (see, for example this BBC article profiling me, this Straits Times article profiling Yi-Sheng and this article mentioning both our works; I also use the handle Zeekyang on other platforms and social media as well). I believe the other accounts that you have listed as sockpuppets belong to other writers based in Singapore participating in this Wikithon organized by Sing Lit Station on December 1, 2018 (see for example these Facebook posts here 12 3 4). I created my Wikipedia account in 2007 for a school project, and thereafter did not edit anything on Wikipedia until I edited my own article "Kevin Martens Wong" while I was in Geneva after it was created at that Wikithon led by Yi-Sheng in Singapore on December 1, 2018, and added the image of myself to the article. I also then created and edited articles "Kodrah Kristang" and "Andre D'Rozario" yesterday on my own as well. I've added COI tags for both pages on my own account, as I am the director of Kodrah and work with Andre, but I am still new to norms regarding COI and general editing etiquette on Wikipedia, hence my initial brazenness in editing my own page and the delay in adding a COI tag on both the Kodrah Kristang and Andre D'Rozario pages. I chose to become more involved on Wikipedia as Kodrah has become more high-profile in Singapore and as the first revitalization initiative for the Kristang language, we seek to provide objective information about both the language and ourselves --- this includes ensuring that information on Wikipedia about Kristang and about us is accurate, accessible to the public and well-written. The aims of Sing Lit Station above are similar but for Singapore literature, which has suffered from a dearth of quality, accessible information about it that is readily available to the public. I appreciate your concerns about sock-puppetry and meat-puppetry and am happy to provide any other information that would be helpful that would demonstrate that this is a separate account from Yi-Sheng's and the other accounts listed.

Accept reason:

Based on multiple discussions, including on my Talk page, I have unblocked you. Bbb23 (talk) 17:00, 11 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

This seems like a reasonable explanation; I've messaged the blocking admin to see what he thinks. OhNoitsJamie Talk 06:19, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Very much appreciated. Zeekyang (talk) 11:15, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi OhNoitsJamie Talk and bbb23, have been following the discussion with both of you and vlorz. Thanks for the help so far in negotiating this. Would just like to note that I created a COI declaration because

1) again, as mentioned before, I'm new to Wikipedia and didn't understand that doing so would signal that I am a paid editor (which I am not)

2) I really did have a COI with the articles I was editing, which I thought was the purpose of putting up a COI (and declared this almost immediately).

I would still very much like to contribute positively to the encyclopedia as a member who understands the wiki's rules and systems, especially because I work with endangered languages in Singapore and would like to contribute knowledge of those to Wikipedia, and will seek to be clearer about such processes in future.

Happy to join the discussion over at vlorz's page if that would be more convenient. Zeekyang (talk) 11:15, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Kevin Martens Wong Festa17.jpg

edit

The file File:Kevin Martens Wong Festa17.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
